Wednesday September 4th
Another busy day. Rained terribly this morning but cleared about noon.
Wrote to Wally this noon and tonight and got a letter from him. Daddy got his lathe. I gave him the money for his birthday.
Stopped at the peanut shop for a $0.05 worth of peanuts
Mrs. Havens gave me some picture postcards to look at. Several familiar scenes.

Monday September 2nd 1935 Labor Day
Up about 8:30. Rode bike. Left for Marion about 10:30. Had lunch at Loudonville at 1 and then took back roads to Butler. Mere paths through dense woods at about eighty-five degrees angles up and down. Stopped at gardens on way in. Melons nearly ripe.
Wally took me to see Shirley Temple in “Curly Top” Saw Lewis on way home. Wally jerked car terribly. Popped corn and went to bed early.

Up about 10:00 to Va Kendall Park north of Akron for picnic lunch. Climbed around rocks before lunch. Aunt Sylvia had baked the loveliest cake for Daddy’s birthday. He’s 44 today.
At home rode Wilda’s girl friend’s bike- all of us. Surely nice.
Went to bed rather early. I woke in middle of night with splitting headache. Aunt Sylvia put hot cloths on it and I went to sleep again.

George is to be operated on again this morning so Bill took Mrs. Hensel down. Skull not together properly. Trying to clear blood clot.
Bill back about 2:30. George not so hot. Got along fine.
Caught 5:30 bus after a hamburger. Daddy met me, bus only 15 minutes late. Had popcorn. They wouldn’t let me wait up for Wally. He woke me up though sweet he got paid. [shorthand] cut.

Davis’s went to the fair so I got my own supper. Meant to go to bed early but Mrs. Havens came in and talked and then Davis’s came home and I had to see the quilt and things they bought.
Did my nails and now it’s 10:15.

Sunday August 25th 1935
Up early and to Mohican State Park near Loudonville. Aunt Sylvia’s and Mary arrived shortly after us. Before dinner Wally and I climbed down to the river (a mere 300-foot practically straight down) and were we ready to eat. After lunch the girls climbed down another way and we followed. Aunt Sylvia gave it up. I’m afraid I’m going to be sore.
