Helped Howard finish digging 15×20 garden – checked on baby ducks – 7 now. At 10:00 picked up Janet Reynolds & went to the Park along the river north of Caledonia over bowstring bridge. Typical flood plain river bottom. Much weedy growth but found about 15 wildflowers. She wants to save it from council members who want to have people cut the trees. Walked the RR track in the rain – about a 2 mile hike.

Drove 24 miles to get 5 miles to Marilyn Kepfords to do wildflower talk for “Sail Mates” – Mrs. Fahrien told me 612 instead of 6512!

Called Mary about Vivian Blackwells letter – She will be gone from Eugene by Mary 27.

Bed at 10 – Exhausted!

Helped Howard spade garden. Soil just right to slice through sod & all – but gets heavy. Called Kathi & they all worked putting sprinkler system in yard. Called David to thank him for hand lettered card. Too sleepy to talk & not much interested in my doings. Enjoyed the Mallard with her 8 ducklings on the pond. Oriole singing all day. Wrote letter to Pittsburg mother of Kathi’s friend asking about Baker genealogy. Called Mary at Walt’s & she doesn’t plan to be home until June 10 so that shooots my Washington trip. Watched Barbra Streisand & Ryan O’Neal in “Main Event”. Took mother’s lunch in to her.

In at 9 & everyone working as if they had been there all night. They quit about 1:00. 5 deliverymen running all day. Keith Hemmerly – Kenny’s son called at 5:10 from Mansfield – wanted to come over for flowers for Ann. Everyone gone by the time he got there but I did about #100 cash business while waiting. Took delivery E of Martel & E of Mrs. Waite’s woods. Home about 8:15. Not too tired.

I routed all day & Terry dispatched. Good team. Got $32 pizza at 6:00 & then everyone from backroom disappeared. At 7:15 they were all back with the news that they had “forgotten” at wedding. I had checked the book & only saw one for Mary 16 – but Chris had sold this one. Bride called at 6:25 for 7:00 wedding. They had it done & delivered at 6:50! But we have to refund.

Other than that all went well. I left at 11:15 – all still working.
