But Marion is celebrating on May 30 – next Sat.

Finished planting veg garden – squash – watermelon, sugar peas, beets & carrots.

Set out pink begonias & ageratum by side porch steps – pansies by house by walk & in spot Howard took out dead redwood. Put ivy & myrtle on grade to chalet porch – and was exhauseted – Bath – picked Lil up & went to Mothers. She talked to Mary at Kathi’s & found she won’t be home until June 10 so she cried a lot.

To Nell & Clay Bryant’s for supper. Delicious. Clay building deck at back of house. Home at 7:30. Called David & Kathi.

Sunday, May 24, 1981 Temp 87! Sunny
Planted 3 kinds tomatoes – 3 kind cabbage & broccoli & pepper plants – canteloupe – Zucchini & another squash. Hauled compost for cucurbits – Howard had raked area – he got pump for river going. Planted “Cmerican” pink climbing rose by Chalet. Much grading to be done there. Someone on my line has phone off hook. Went ato Mrs. Fields to check on mother.

New ceiling fan in living room felt good.

Utterly exhausted – Terry Zacharias out & re-aligned TV antenna before I was up. To Mother’s for dinner. Shop working on Harding Prom & May weddding. To Claridon Prairie at 5 to meet Dr. Larry Yoder’s Spring flora class – identified bastard toadflax. Then to Terradiwse & to my wildflower areas.

Bob Burch here to measure for carpet. Have chose Maons Copper York Rd at $14.50 yd plus laying. Will cost about $1,100 – $100 to relay my carpet in Bordeaux house. Kathi called about 4:00 to thank me for bonus check. Haven’t heard from David.

Foertsch painted “chalet” – redwood. Picked up rug samples at Hableutzels & asked about layers using my carpet at Bordeaus. Lunch with Mother. Conference with Judy & Chris on flowers for Karen May’s wedding Sat. At 3:30 with Virginia Howard & Dick Bryson to see Boyd house on Main St. Oak Street Brick & Boggs House. Then evaluated each for site, historic value, condition, landscaping care, resale values & size. Oak Street house 1840 vintage need much repair came out first.
Dinner with Jordan’s at Rhoads – plants there need more water.

Camera CLub locked out of Rec Center so took meeting to Hemmerly’s. Barry Baker elected president & Dick Lankton Secy-Treas.
