Trimmed ivy back from walks. Poison Ivy every place from tree across the road – a vine covers it. Hot.

Typed on genealogy – called John Fetter & Bill Morris.
Typed until 2:30 & finished Lucy Hildreth’s Family.

Gene Farrison called needing a spray for Harry Clapsaddle.
Called Judy & she referred me to Pat who contacted Chris who called me for order. Guess that shows who is interested in shop.

Exhausted from last 3 days. Fertilized flower beds with fish emulsion.

Tried to finish inventory – but after a week backroom supplies not done – not silks that I asked for last week. Totaled sales $18,000 up from last year. $553,000.

Took balance of MCHS stuff to Ena Hatfield – she likes to have garage sales. Then had dinner with her at Perkins.

To fairgrounds at 8:30 to unload for Country Store. Francis & Sally Roush there & we had things ready to sell by 9:30. Workers all appeared on time – sold $170 – no expenses – all last year’s stuff except Howard’s baskets.
Only about $35 from flea market.

Doris Chambers in cabin making yeast bread on kerosene stove.

Harry Bard joined MCHS & stopped by so I could ride behind his mules Jack & Babe – took photos of fairgrounds as I rode.

Sawmill dedicated at noon. Orlie Barks age 102 there. His 97th fair. Interesting to see a log “squared” & then sliced into boards.

Had to “talk” my way through the front gate to load & unload as it is closed this year to vehicular – Only to walk through – Wayne Harper helped me return things.

Davie is same height as David H at 13 yrs – 5 mo – Put his measurement on bathroom closet doorway. In to shop. Judy didn’t lioke my suggestion to remove the barn siding & expose the walnut cabinets again. But I went ahead with it anyway.

Dinner at Isaly’s with Heckers, Haldemans & Davie who then went with Walt’s for the night.

Home to pick up things for MCHS meeting. About 75 there – was re-elected Presiden 4th year. All new officers there for introduction. Forgot to call on Maxine Marshall to tell about their cataloging court house holdings. Miriam told me after but wouldn’t speak up when I ask for other reports. Carroll Neidhart gave good cabin report – mostly my slides.

Met Heckers & Haldemans at Hemmerlys & were at John Bryan State Park at 11:00. Watched bluebirds (& others) util 12 when David & Sarah arrived. Karen drove her Mustang with the boys so she could take Sarah back for ballet lesson at 5:00. But she had a flat tire – had to change it on the freeway & didn’t get there until 1:00. David cooked sausage on grill.

Davie, The Haldeman’s & I hiked into the gorge of the Little Miami River. Hot! We left at 3:30 to get me back to set up for Fair. Walt helped me load things stored in Hemmerly’s. Got to Fairgrounds just as it down-poured 1 1/4″ in 45 minutes. Roads blocked after & no Roush’s so I came home. Didn’t even sprinkle out here!

David & Don flew in to Marion Municipal Airport at 10 AM – Gorgeous Sunny day. Don had to get aeroclub Piper Arrow back so only said hello & goodby – but friendly.

Took Davie to see mother & then out here for lunch. His food habits are atrocious. Only likes sugars & fats. Mary, Kenny, Mother out to see him but he got a Nancy Drew book from the attic & went to his room & read. Took him to drive in for supper & then to Cardington to see tornado damage. Downtown 2 blocks gone except for about 6 buildings. Sorted news clippings.
