Trella Hemmerly – 1981-08-20

Called Wayne because I hated to wait until Sept 30 for approval to start on Boyd House. He had same thought. So I write letter to membership & call Phyllis Boyd to plan to have house open Thursday – Aug 27 from 4 to 7 for membership to visit – and to vote on acceptance. Got letter to Big Red Print – called Ellen to get it in mail Saturday. Ran out of paper while copying plans. To Styling Salon for shampoo & set & complained about my kinky hari – but she made it look good! Picked up Mary, Kenny & mother at 2:30 & go to Pt. Columbus at 3:45. Didn’t recognize place. Enter planes from second floor now. From Dallas Captain sent me marked map of route after Steward saw my interest. Kathi & Bob met me. Kids waiting at house. Bed early.

Got house ready for Board meeting before going in to work at 1:30. Pick up traveller’s checks at AAA $500. Got MCHS mail. Home at 5:00 – just sat down to rest & Lehner’s arrived at 5:30. And Dorothy Harper kept Wayne in car so they wouldn’t arrive before 6:30!

Nice dinner – cleaned up the lunch meat. Nancy Oborn a great help in serving. Showed group newspapers & rugs stored in “Chalet:. Then to Rec room to see “Gatewood Collection”. Lehner & Berry value it at well over $1,000.

Carrol Neidhart modelled 1889 Tuxedo & says he “stockpiles” the lumber Wayne found used in sawmill. Board voted to recommend membership to accept Boyd house at 255 S. Main St. after Wayne’s drwaings & figures inspected. — a new day has dawned!

Chris Greer wedding at Emmanuel Lutheran – beautiful. She wanted everything full & gorgeous – so it was a $400 wedding. Clarence & Sally seemed pleased. He worked for us in 1951-55.

Finished cleaning house. David, Karen & Kids arrived about 10:45 PM. Kids wide awake. Josh all excited about his suit that Karen made that he modelled at State Fair & won first prize – in Toddler’s Division.
