Friday, October 2, 1981
On Mary Ann Micheales 10 AM program on WMRN talking about Tour. Looking at brochure realized that sites were not numbered in the order to be visited – MCHS mentioned in next to last line along with Old Village Marion. Brenner Court not identified – Marion Towers not listed – where displays are to be-!!! – So I typed a suggested route – with places to park & stops for the bus starred. To meeting early & got Joan VanOosten – chairman permission to include with Ticket-Brochure & found I had locked keys in car! But did finally get 200 run at shop[. Let off steam at Isaly’s with Pratt Barnhart – Kaufman & Harruff-

Thursday, October 1, 1981
Puttered in greenhouse – Consolidated Madelon Hamilton’s Pink Fringe Begonias & my spider plants & Howard’s exacum affine. Everything blooming so profusely. Hate to see it frost.

Lazy PM. Met Bill & Erma, Mary & Carl – Mary & Kenny & Walt, Olgua & Janece at Brown House at 5:30 – My treat for Birthday dinner for all of them $95 – most of us had shrimp. Gave Mary the carnation centerpiece.

Tried to call Don Decker to make plans to get Dave’s things to him – no ans – To Quest Club – They voted to have morning meetings! Starting next month when I do the program!

Line busy at 9:30 at Deckers. Pix from David H – our perfect day in Adams Co. called him – had taken kids to movie.

Wednesday, September 30, 1981
Wm. Kay Davis in with his suggestions on deed. Picked up copy of our article of Inc. & thinks we may be exempt from real estate taxes. Would save $300 a year. but give no basis for the tax valuation provisions in deed!

Picked up program books – not trimmed but maybe no one will notice. Took them to Mary & they all helped put labels on.

To OSUM at 6:00 with coverlet & baby coat from Corinne Gatewood’s collection & plants to decorate.
All went as planned. Had Board meeting at 7:15 & explained the deed. Board voted for fund raising campaign for $50,000 & membership voted to pay the $1 consideration on the deed. Ted Myers good slide program on American Revolution.

Monday, September 28, 1981
Gave flower arranging demo to 15 Pleasant High School Freshmen at 9:15. Bought blue wool coat (on sale $90 from $119) & old rose 3 pc dress with pleasted skirt ($54) like I wanted in the 9th grade & daddy couldn’t afford at $7.50.

Phil Boyd brought deed to 255 S. Main in for MCHS & I took it to Wm. Kay davis to check over. Took mother pompon arrangment I made at talk & it was too big. Mary went to Coschocton. Made reservations for Lil & me to go on AARP trip to Marietta – Oct 15&16. $71. Had board meeting on sick pay benefits – voted benfits that will cost Corp. $1,000 a year. Not one of them “thought like Management”. Gary Barnhart out to see Deed & we catalogued the Gatewood Collection.

Tuesday, September 29, 1981
On Hist Soc stuff all day. Still no tickets for tour -and little publicity. One Star story last Sat.

Sarah Eaton in town for finish photography for survey sheets on downtown & Old Village Marion. Went with her from 5 until 6:30. Walking most of time. Too tired to stay for Altrusa.

Home all day waiting for call from Don about getting Dave’s things. Never called.

Saturday, September 26, 1981
Picked Irma Campbell up at 8:30 & we headed form Cols for Ohio Hist Society & Ohiop Assoc Hist Socities Annual Meetings. Couldn’t figure out the shenanigans that ousted Ruth Bosner from presidency & put Beardslee in – good seminars on fund raising. Gale Peterson of Cincinnati Histo Soc interested in Ken Ozier’s etchings when I mentioned. Met Dr. Wm. Knapp of the Marion Knapps – who live in “Putnam” – Zanesville where David & Abigail Stokely went from Marietta in 1799.

Girls serviced 2 weddings at 2:30 & I did the one at 7:30 when I got back.
