Took Kathy to Mother’s & went to Missionary meeting. Program seemed to go off ok. Stopped off at auction on Farming St. on way home. Waited for an hour for them to sell books. Had a bookcase of good ones. But they sold only “The Harvard Classics”. Bid me up to $5 on them. 18 volumes but 2 were alike & I knon’t know where the other 3 are!
Wally bowled. Ethel & Mrs. Corbin were teaching & Mrs. Corbin fell & hurt ankle so I watched kids while Howard went after them. Wally said the fort he built for the kids this afternoon didn’t help his bowling. Averaged 123.

Mother & Mary came in while we were eating. Mother had picked up a bargain in a coat set for Kathy. Rose pink & soiled some but it was 7.95 set & she got it for $3.
Wally spends all his spare time in the basement with his new tools & workbench. Made me a shelf for bathroom. Coat rack for Kathy & repaired chairs. Bed at 11:30

Got most of the ironing done this morning bu 12:00 came about 30 minutes too soon. Just got dishes done & house straightened when it was time to go to Scout meeting. Kathy would make just as I was trying to get ready on time.
Scouts are working on Arts & Crafts. Some things really show work bu too many of them try to get by with nothing.
Wally & daddy went to an Air Raid meeting & I worked on the quiz for missionary meeting Thurs. To bed at 12:30. Don’t know why we can’t turn in earlier.

Kinda took the day off. Dampened clothes & went over the house lightly. Experimented with grandma’s loom. Want to teach weaving in connection with our study of Latin America.
Mary H. had to work but Mary J. came over to go with me to Guild. Went out at 10 till 8 but car wouldn’t start. After threatening to take the bus it came around for Wally & we drove out- Donna Mae. Nothing much unusual- last month the Guild voted to become a circle of the Missionary Society in May.
Home & worked on records of the book. Walt had boys here for poker. Jimmy Bull took Chessie for his grocery store.

Welcomed the New Year with Mary & Bob J, Florence & Milton Baker, Bernard & Rosina. Mary H. & Peg Basinhart here for our annual New Year’s Eve party. Our prophecies from last year were about 50% right & the ones for next year dod not predict the end of the war.
Wally worked a while in the morning then we went to Mother’s for Turkey dinner. The one Mary got from Universal for Thanksgiving, Been frozen up since then, Daddy took the train for Akron all alone at 3:15. We then decided to take Grandma to Aunt Mays & did so. Plenty tired when we got home finally.
