Busy but not really rushed. Didn’t have to work overtime so served chili I brought at noon.

Bad weather – snow & wind.

Didn’t go to Camera Club – potluck.

Monday evening – wrapped bonus checks of $3,500 on top of Hemmerly’s matched with IRA (Individual Retirement Act) Letter enclosed – up to them to decide “Money to Burn or to save.”

Dave Decker’s 14th birthday!
3 weddings. I serviced Central Christian & Grace Baptist. Chris did Trinity. Mildred Frances died. Had 5 sprays & 61 total funeral pieces. Drake boy killed in snowmobile accident & about 5 other deaths.
Not busy enough to keep the 3 delivery men busy all day. Had rented truck @ $25 a day – but wouldn’t have needed it.

Home about 7 – bushed!
Letter from Kathi – with copy of very nice letter from Rita. But K said she had Bob read it first as she didn’t want to read it if it was a nasty one. She should read mine! I felt I shouldn’t even call Dave for his birthday as Rita would consider I was interferring.

Friday, December 18, 1981 15 degrees Sunny 5 mph wind beautiful winter day.

4 female & 1 male cardinal on corn on fence posts.

When Mary & Kenny stopped at show AM I ask them to please return red-bird feeder – weighted so only cardinals can get the sunflower seeds. So they returned it. Kenny had made several.

Picked up enlargements of area across road taken before the Brooks’ ruined it with trailer park. Good! Bought Atari TV Game & cassette for all the grandkids. Can hook it up to extra TV in Rec Room that has no antenna. $175 with extra cassette. Paul Hunt died & Elenor Zieg Hunt has Renovation fund of MCHS as a “favorite charity.”

Thursday, December 17, 1981 First real snowfall 5″ wet Temp 28
Delivered 7 mi N on Lyon Rd. Stopped at Reese’s & ordered Baby Swiss Cheese for drivers. Greg Etter driving & ordering Wayne Kuehnle around. Paul Hunt died and Don Gunder called to see how to list Mar. Co. Hist. Society Renovation fund as a favorite charity.

Took Poinsettia to Mary in memory of Rocky’s birthday. Shopped at Penny’s – Microwave oven ware for Kathi & Mary.

Wrote letter to send all MCHS members who have not contributed to Renovation Fund. 30 members have contributed $1,500, 2 members $3,000! – me $1,000 & Irene Clark $2,000 – total $4,500.

Wednesday, December 16, 1981 Temp 35 Sunny
$3,000 under receipts this time last year. – Sales down $1,000.

Helped Brenda & Jill Castanien wrap poinsettias. Brought most of them delivered yesterday at 229 E. Fairground.

Made 100 poinsettia bows

Tuesday, December 15, 1981
Took foil to Mother for her to fold. Mary had gone to 229 to give mattress & springs to needy family but they didn’t show up.

184 Poinsettias in from Lakewood. Took them to mothers as we were full at shop.

Sonny Copeland brought $1,000 from Henry A. True Trust for Mar Co His Soc. – Glada Buell & sister in to order flowers for her father George Shelton.

Home until 5:00. Needed a day to catch up.
Finished hemming aisle cloths that were ripped.

To the Jordan’s for dinner. Her house decorated beautifully. Every spot with just the right touch. Pork chops with honey sauce & peanut butter pie delicious.

All day decorating & cleaning for Advent Party at 7:00. Geneva Brewer brought Mary Ellen North – Margaret & John Cotrell also newcomers. Geneva played & LeeAnn Augenstein Gompf led singing. Her daughter Michelene just one year old – walking & holds up 1 finger when you ask how old she is. About 20 here including Bernard & Betty Brooks. First of many invitations they have accepted. Betty very cordial & complimented my house etc!!

Not as busy as expected. Greg Etter in to deliver but sent Virgil home at 1:00.

Cooper-Longacre wedding at Caledonia Church of Christ. All went well – seemed glad I serviced it.
