Trella Hemmerly – 1982-01-19

Tuesday, January 19, 1982 Low 15 – High 29
Terry Zacharias & Virgil Hinamon helped me move chairs & a table from Big Red & mother’s to the Center* for meeting tonight. I spent an hour sweeping to make it a alittle pleasanter. Up to Mary’s to see mother.

Met Steve White at shop. Showed him manuscript – he feels typeset with hard back is best – 200 copies $3,80 – $15.45 each. Would be about 80 pages including pictures, maps. They hand carry all material and deliver books with no fgt. chgs.

Checked over Judy’s inventory figures – 22,000 – seems OK but no supply figures.

Jim Strider can’t come in January will come in June & spend afternoon.

MCHS Board meeting – First time at the Center* – Discussion on relationship with Old Village Marion gropup. They are collecting dues separate from Society. Also on whether to use a fund raising group.

Worked on Hurlbut history most of day.
Letter from Kathi saying Don will blame her if Rita leaves him because Kathi interferes with their lives when she writes to Dave! Also said he asked Dave if he wanted to return to Kathi & he said no.

Called Del Goff about his sources on Prettyman Stokely but didn’t get any information – Got more family info & told him about Stokely Cemetery.*

Dick Bryson called & we decided to ask Jim Strider for MCHS meeting Jany to suggest long range goals.

Tuesday, January 12, 1982
In at 11:30 for Altrusa Board meeting for lunch. Then shopped for cheese & crackers for Altrusa tonight. At shop at 2:30 to meet with Jim Chill of Comprehensive Business Services – very professional but would get reports sooner & in less technical form. About same cost. $244 /month. Year end fees less.
At 5 to Howison & Howard to meet Dorothy Harper & Virginia Howard. Slected wallpaper for Center – 3 correlated designs for different areas. Virginia & I had dinner at Turroff’s & then to Altrusa. Irma Campbell co-hostess planned menu.

But ALt rus bores me. Guess I’ll recommend Kass & bow out.

Called Mary to say sorry didn’t have time to come over. Had problems at Mother’s. In addition to pipes in rear basement frozen – the radiator froze upstairs & ice all over floor.

Sunday, January 10, 1982 -10 9:00 AM -2 12:00 Chill factor 48 below zero.

Windy & sunny but so cold. House only 60. Worked all day on Genealogy – typed 10 pages – up to Lucy Hildreth.

Called David and he was bundled up ready to go to Bengfals Championshiup Game against San Diego. He plays in the band and had alcohol in his spray bottle – Don’t envy him being out in this. Bengals won 27-7 – Later San Fran 49’ers beat Dallas Cowboys 28-27. David thinks band will go to Superbowl at Pontiac Jan. 24.

Watched “Will – J. Gordon Liddy” – Watergate break-in.

Coldest day of this century.

No place in Ohio got above zero today.

36 consecutive hours of below zero.
