In at 9:00 to get ready for talk at Marion Manor – Took Judy with me to get people used to her as a symbol of Hemmerly’s – She made soda & a “mum” clown – They loved her – 100 people are there about 25 attended including Leora Ankney.

To Carl Stewarts for a photo setting.

To Mary’s for lunch – Just ready to go to Mother’s when Dr. & Mrs. Ginn* arrived to visit her.

Spent 3 hrs – sorting things out of drawers – Ened with 6 bags of throw outs – Found David Sheneman’ small German Bible purchased in 1841 – and he was a 3rd generation German! Swept up after so it looked a little better but it is really dirty everyplace!

Made bacon omlet & went to bed at 9:00. It has been an exhausting week.

Pat Winn picked me up at 8:45 & we headed to Mansfield to Ohio Genealogy Society – Copied landowner maps for Muskingum & Knox & Union Counties. Found family names in Marriage & tax lists. – Good researach – Made 46 copies $6.90 Home at 2:00 – QUick lunch & in for shampoo & set at Styling Salon – $5.50. To Mary’s to visit Mother – nice letter from Walt. To supper with Mary & Kenny at Ponderosa – Bought new canvas type purse at Penneys $8 – Then to shop to consolidate board minutes for meeting tonight.

[MCHS] Board meeting at 7:00 – Told them what Ketchum Co. needs from us – Decided to participate in CB Flea Market April 4 & 5 at Marca School.

Good program by Carl Lehner & Dick Carey – display of 40 old tools and 23 items for identification. Gave 7 prizes.

Mary Brandt brought “Margis Pralines” for refreshment – 2 sticks oleo – 1 cup brown sugar – bring to boil – add 1 c chopped pecans – pour over graham crackers spread on cookie sheet. Bake 10 Min. Delicious.

Had a Board meeting of old board – But Chris & Pat not in so only Faye there to learn that new board was Kavid, Kathi & Judy – selected by stockholders. David & Kathi – the board elected officers – David Pres – Kathi & Judy Vice Presidents – Kass Secy & Judy Treas.

David took the Corporation Record book to Halberstein to have it updated. Then we went to Mother’s. He took the little desk we had since Ballentine Ave days – The floor radio that stood by Mother’s chair & the small washstand from upstairs. I tried to sort out things from closet in bedroom. Found a book of David Sheneman’s estate that Lucy Sheneman had posted obits in.

Had hamburgers at McDonalds. FIlled up his car with gas at Bonded & filled mine for last time on company credit card. He left for Cinci about 1:30. Back to shop to copy the clippings in book – dated from 1893 to 1954.

Mother & Daddy’s party to announce marriage, my marriage to Walt & Ray’s death included. Took pictures to Al Tozer for copying & printing. Kass called saying Judy’s weakness is customer relations. Never wants to admit shop can make a mistake.

In to shop about 10- – David asking questions like mad – Felt like was taking my final examination. He was especially interested in bookkeeping procedures as he feels they could be handled better with a computer – do away with accountant. Cheryl in midst of billing.

About 11:30 Joe Halberstein called and said he had all the papers ready for me to turn my stock into the corporation for $111,000 leaving David & Kathi as the owers of all the stock – 130 shares. I will get about $1,500 a month for 10 years.

Took Judy to lunch at Isaly’s so David could get better acquainted.

At 1:30 went to Joe’s office & signed the papers.

Called Tim Albright at Soc. Sec. & told him I had sold my interest in Hemmerly’s. He said to bring copy in & apply – should get check in March.

To Altrusa dinner. On program on “talents” – Mine is “leading the Historical Society”

Cleaned house some – First time since Christmas – just too busy.

In at 5 & got to shop just as David was getting outof the Dodge. In from Cincinnati.

He copied some things & we met Mary & Kenny at Turoff’s at 5:30. Jordans had previous engagement.

Then up to Mary’s to see Mother. Hecker’s got an “Intellivision” with a poker cassett. Mary tried to teach David to play – He never had! He really isn’t “his father’s son.”

Home about 9:30 – Talked about shop operation. David anxious to know if it is being capably run without my being there.

Loafing day.

Sorted some pictures
Played piano.

Called Charles Dune at Mass. Mutual. Decided to take $12,000 casdh from my 12 year old policy (a $400 gain over premium!!) instead of taking a $20,000 paid up policy.

Called Home Federal – Fred Richardson says I can take interest only on Keogh plan until I’m 70 – It will be about $480 to $450 a month depending on interest rates.

Went thru cards & letters in red box daddy made dated 1904-1947 – P{ut some in mylar folders for safe keeping. Tell quite a story.

12 cardinals in Washington Thorn AM.

So icy at 6 I didn’t go out for Star.

In to shop at 10 for conference with Cheryl & Judy – Worked it out that she only works til 4 – but punch time clock like everyone else. Complemented Judy on way she compiled inventory.

To Mary’s top stay with Mother while they had a day off. Worked on sorting pictures for genealogy. Took 2 copies to Big Red Quickprint to be spiral bound – one for Allen & one to have while original is at printer.

At 4 met Jack Bull & Richard Bryson. Had papers from Ketchum Fund Raising agency from other fund drives. Made copies of them at shop for Dick & me. He suggests getting input from members at Jan 28 meeting but priming a little.

Picked up film at K-Mart

David called – He will be up late Monday – spend Tues & Wed seeing how shop is run.
