In at 10:30 leaving dave at shop. Met Mary at Inskeep & left my wagon to have electric window repaired & lens put in back tail light. Then we on to Marysville to research at Union Co. Courthouse in Marysville. Finished William Hildreth Estate file & did Benoni who at 69 was committed to State Hospital because he thought he was an engine. He was the Civil War Veteran – injured. Had a $30 mo. pension.

Back at 2:30 & Mary left me at garage. Car wasn’t ready until 5:15. Met Hecker’s & Dave at Pancake House for supper.

Picked up 2 rolls of Disc film at Meijers & bought at cotton peach dress for $7.

Getting settled into a work routine after the shakedown period. Gave Dave the choice of taking piano lessons from Howard or helping me weed for an hour. Guess what he chose? Seemed like 20 years ago to hear the Volga Boatman again. Played a key at a time.
To Caledonia Bank to have my signature guaranteed so I could withdraw $2,000 for National Total Return Fund. Bought beef roast at Reece’s for $1.39 lb. In to shop and copied Emmanuel Sheneman 1870 letters to Lucy Hildreth & enclosed with letter to Uncle Allen.
Shopped at Sears for their 49 cent notebook paper – 200 sheets – which Dave wouldn’t have. Had to have 70 sheets between a cover for 49 cents.
Stopped at Mary’s. She had daylilies from Dr. Ginn. Named varieties. So glad to see her enthused about planting something. Weeding the impatiens bed on the patio. Perked me up even if it was hot. Watched “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” with Dave.

Trimmed & weeded – Dave slept until noon. Said kittens kept him awake – Hassle getting him to piano with Howard – and a real set to when I snstructed him on how to sweep the kitchen.
Bob Stout called & read me the journal entry he has prepared to transfer custody to me. 5 items – $200 me support – no college money unless voluntary. I pay first $60 of medical yearly.
Ruth Green* out for 2 hr. Interview for a “Life Style” story – Bill Snider took 10 shots in 5 minutes!
Cooked pot roast so invited Heckers & Jordans for dinner at 5 & Ruth left at 4:551 But everyone seemed to enjoy it. Fresh peaches & ice cream for dessert.
Washed & worked on genealogy while Dave watched T.V.

Two boys stopped last night. They were out of gas so gave them the gasoline can. Their car sputtering badly when they returned can. This morning Howard wanted to know why the KEROSENE can was empty and I didn’t get the boys names to tell them.

Bkfst with Ruth & Allen. Then Allend to Music Room to tape “Jack Armstrong” record for Mary. I ”interviewed” him on the end of the tape about his collection. Ruth had “stew” and broccoli with cheese for lunch. I copied from “Y-Bridge City – Zanesville” the chapter about the era that the Hildreths lived there. Helen came about 3:30 and was pleased with her copy of Emmanuel & Lucy Hildreth Sheneman marriage certificate. Allen has the original reframed. Took Ruth to her dental appointment at 4:00 & I took Helen’s car to copy shop & copied the Machling genealogy that Allen is writing – 26 pages. Heretzels from Rheinau, Germany back to 1580.
Ruth had lost a filling & had a temp cap put on. Left for Orange Co. Airport at 5:40 – arriving at 6:00. Dinner at Delaney’s – good seafood – overlooking runway. Left them eating when I got on plane for 7:00 PM flight AirCal – Flew out towards Catalina Island. Could see ships going in and out from Long Beach Harbor. Flew over water to the Malibu coast & from there to Monterrey Bay just a jumble of mts.
