Thursday, May 20, 1976
Mrs. Jones to clean again. I went in to shop about 1. Kathi left for Memphis at 3:30 with Bob & kids. At 4:30 Vivian Bratten called. They hadn’t stopped at shop, but came to Terradise. I went right home – Quest Club & guests arrived shortly – Total of 40 for potluck picnic. Nice spring evening. People on deck, patio, rec room, TV room & living room.
Phone installation completed. Push buttons really fast & the intercomm saves many steps.

Wednesday, May 19, 1976
Mother having very painful toes. I tried to trim them but too tough. Called Dr. Brown to go out to take care of them.

Tuesday, May 18, 1976
Slept until 10:00. At shop had conferences with Pat O’Hara from Accg Firm (needs clarification on FTD Patronage), Paul Dasher about plumbing fixtures take out (he will store them for future use) & phone installers (will install 8 phones & use present kitchen cupboard area for order desk.)
Kathi call by Bob to come to Cambridge to pick him up. Just before getting to March Electic for job interviews a woman ran a red light & demolished Bob’s red mustang. Bob only got a banged head. They got back about 5:30 & I had supper at Kathi’s. To Historical Society Board meeting. Passed resolution to aid Prospect in saving their depot.

Monday, May 17, 1976 Veery
Mrs. Jones here to clean. I trimmed outside & finished cleaning kitchen cupboards. In at noon to decide on track lighting for new area. 40′ will cost about $400 with 7 lights. Kathi & I to Penny’s to look at sofa for shop office & then to Sears where I finally persuaded them to let me have display set of tables & 2 chairs – white iron. (Had ordered one in Mch that never came in.)
Burroughs picnic people started arriving at 5 – Total of 21 here. Such fuss budgets. Poured rain all evening. Couldn’t even appreciate all of Howard’s lawn mowing.

Sunday, May 16, 1976
Called David & found they were expecting me down to go to “Where’s Charlie” that David is playing for all month. I only remember saying I’d try to find a time I could come!
Cleaned kitchen carpet with spray stuff & new vacuum,. Still looks crummy. Did some kitchen cupboards. Set ou geraniums & 2 weeping junipers. Rain Sprinkles off & on all day. Algae gone on pond but duckweed growing. Kathi & Bob out to get more sand for her flower beds. Watched “Parent Trap” & Scott Fitzgerald in Hollywood on TV. Bed 11:30.

Saturday, May 15, 1976 Bought heavy duty Cannister Hoover for shop. $259 & self propelled upright Hoover for her. Got roaster for trade.
Still tired. Steve Waring in for first day at Hemmerly’s. Laura ran deliveries with him. I took Chris with me to Prospect for wedding. Kathi in to pick up payrioll & said she’d bring my supper out. Bob had choice of helping Kathi with work around her house (setting out plants, etc.) or going to Mary’s to stay. So he went to Mary’s. He’s never done a days “work” in his life, I’ll bet.
So Kathi, the kids & I had nice supper here & she loaded up buckets of sand & loam for her garden.

Friday, May 14, 1976
So tired I could hardly navigate. Howard & I back to Wonder Gardens to get balance of plants. Then I potted up 12 combination pots – Planted geraniums, marigolds, impatiens here. To shop & decided on electrical outlet placements with Carl. Haircut & set after running deliveries. Up to see Mother, Home @ 6 & to bed at 8. Dead tired.

Thursday, May 13, 1976 oriole
To Wonder Gardens West of Mansfield (Wayne Rosten) after looking at desks at Wards & seeing tulips at Kingwood. Only Darwins & Cottage still blooming, but beautiful.
Got wagon jammed with geraniums, petunias, impatiens, marigolds, vinca, dusty miller but have to go back for rest.
At shop they had wall thru to office area & after a shop conference decided to move S. showroom wll back 3 ft to open up a new area & leave 7′ behind cabinets for storage and passage way. Will use cabinets in present eating area to hold sink & stove in new area to replace water heater with smaller one.
Home to bath & rest & then to Likens Covenant Church for our first “Plant Party”. Dave Woessner helped & Steve Waring came along.

Wednesday, May 12, 1976 To hear Eerica Wilson at Needlework Artisans Guiold for Program only.
Dave’s day off & at 10:30 1 arrangement had been made. What in the world do they do? I did 4 arrangements while Laura did 2 & Martha almost 2.
The men from John Bauldauf contractor put up plastic to shut out concrete dust & started chipping the wall out. Got the back area done.
Took Terri with me at 3:15 to run the deliveries. Took Mother to Morral & back to shop to see the mess. Home at 6:30 & fixed sausage & hash brown. Howard put coppuer sulphate in pond.

Tuesday, May 11, 1976
Show room stripped. Russ in for Delivery. Earl Manter & Pat O’Hara in to pick up our April accntg & had a time getting them ready on short notice.
Had Steve Waring in for interview for delivery job plus potentially manager of plants & receiving clerk. He seemed really delighted. Starting at $2.60 hr.
Wedding appointments in this mess are rough.
