Cheryl had to write payroll checks manually.
David took the new computer to the shop & the program all completed but the connecting card was not compatible with the daisywheel printer. He also took his car keys in so Karen couldn’t take me in & do her shopping. So he had a very frustrating morning before leaving on their vacation at Lake Erie about 1:00.
David Winsinger funeral not too big but mostly styled arrangements. Kass had called me last night about ordering so I went in to help out – Wrote up 3 weddings for next Sat.
Par Winn told me that Dick Merchant, Tricia Haldeman’s husband has cancer. Not much hope – 39 yrs old – 2 boys. Marcella keeping them.
Helped Dave carry boards from shack across road for burning. Letter from Kathi with lots of advice.
Got caught up on mail & check writing.

Kathi called to tell me no papers from Don yet. Told her Bob Stout send another letter to him yesterday.
JoAnn McAndrew brought son Booby out to spend day with Dave. she & other kids stayed to watch rocket launches. Boys went across river to retrieve one – didn’t find. They played Intellivision, submarine search & finished levelling the shack.
I worked in my room – sorting things into filing cabinet – when I wasn’t cooking.
Dave’s actions today a big disappointment. He feels he has to “show off” when anyone else is around. He does this by being obnoxious. Comes on with Don’s insolent look and expressions. When I watched Boob eat and compared Dave’s uncouth behavior I was ashamed for him. Told him to either cut his spaghetti or wind it around his fork but he continued to suck it in. Was insulted when I asked him to use his napkin to wipe sauce off his mouth and wore his hat to the table. When I asked him to remove it he said “This ain’t no restaurant, why do I have to take it off?”. I said “My home is more important than a restaurant and we will show respect here.”
Took Bobby home at 7:00. Dropped off committee list for Imogene. Went to Mary’s to baby sit so Mary could get away.

High 73 – gorgeous day.
Working in my room. Moved Ray’s poetry & lepidoptera books to make way for genealogy.
Bob Stout’s office called about 1:30. Deeds transferring “my” 2 acres across road to me & David, me & Kathi & me & David & Kathi (3 lots out of the 2 acres) ready to be signed. Also regional planning papers covering same. So went right in – left Dave at shop.
To Hall-Becks to get roll of paper for Dave’s hand held calculator & priced typing desks & chair. Table was $60 & chair $200 so I went to shop & got the table from my old office that no one used.

Met Murphy’s across road at 9. Ray showed me that the gas line is at edge of plowed ground.
Took Dave to Mary’s to go over to Mother’s to mow & then at MCHS Center at 10:00 to meet Kathleen Kelly – Regional Preservation Officer – Joan Van Oosgten came over to fill her in on “Old Village Marion” activities. To Mary’s at 12 after touring OVM with KK – Lunch.
To shop & copied Zimmerman scrapbook clippings for Marie Tewell & Don Baker. Unpacked boxes from Kathi – priced Gabrielle’s things – sewed – for shop & took Pashinko to Mary. Dave tore down more of shed when we got home about 3. I napped. Too many “get up early” mornings.
Picked up Mary Jordan for Class of ‘33 Reunion Committee held at MCHS Center. 13 there. Decided on June 11 at Country Club – Jack Bray to be MC. Had those there sign up for committees.
David called to say the Hemmerly computer is in. Will bring up Saturday after wee meet at Fair. Told Dave about Pliedes [sic – actually Persied] Meteor shower. So we went out for a while. Stars gorgeous but I’ve forgotten all Ray taught me.
Luna moth at window.

Mother’s picture & article on 92nd birthday in Star.
To River Valley High School to register Dave. Had conference with Mr. Harvey before Dave came in & gave him some background. With a little urging from me Dave chose College Prep Eng & Algebra. Industrial Technology & Astronomy were his choices. Health & Phys. Ed. required. Made of couple of smart remarks: Harvey: “Who is your family doctor” – Trella: “Dr. Victor Lenzo” – Dave: “I want a more expensive doctor.” When I asked him about it later he said he was making a joke!
Terry & Jerry Zacharias here working on staining the deck when we got back. Had lunch with us and finished about 2:00. Pd $30. Had them move desk from living room to my bedroom – and the antique empire chest to the living room. Then sorted through drawers to get things relocated. Meanwhile Dave was tearing down the old shack. Got 2 walls & the windows out. He really worked. I repiled the debris sorting out good boards. It cost $100 for lumber when Daddy put on the board & batten about 1959.
At 6:00 Dave & I went to MCHS Center to meet John & Margaret Cottrell & the four of us worked until 8:00 cleaning up the mess made when the ceiling plaster fell. Got McDonald’s food & ate at Mary’s
