After breakfast with Don Boggs, Carrol Neidhart and the Van Oestens, we left for Port Clinton and took the ferry to Put-in-Bay- $2 each way and it’s 1 1/2 hours each way gorgeous day for a boat ride- sailboats out -gulls following Ferry. Lunched and then took elevator to top of Perry’s Monument. I hadn’t been there since 1950. View clear to Mainland Canada & Monroe Michigan. 40 miles. Stopped in Bayview for supper- fish and home about 8. Nice trip. Always enjoy Virginia’s definite views on political issues.

Kathleen Harruff at shop at 12:30 and we picked up Virginia Howard and headed for Lakeside. Checked into Lakeside Hotel along with other Marion County Historical Society board members as guests of the Boggs who manage the hotel. Had board meetings at 5- served as Secretary. Dinner at 6:30 and then to Hoover Auditorium for group of girls from Marseille France. Not too impressive. Our group had tour of the hotel and admired the walnut and wicker furniture. The building is a hundred years old. Rooms rent for $8.50 single $9 double!
