Kristi carried things to patio to have picnic here for Milton & Florence Baker, Walt, Bernard & Rosina, Mary & Carl, Kathi & kids. Ate on patio until mosquitos drove us in for dessert. Milton retired as high school supt. Of Sonora California schools in June & they had pictures of that & of their cabin near Yosemite.
Kristi stayed all night again.

Steve called at 10:35 to say he was quitting. Called Barry Baker & he came to the rescue. Good to have someone around who knows what they’re doing. Had 11 weddings that we got done somehow.

Howard, Mother, Kathy, kids & I to Forest with a funeral delivery & then to Hueston Cemetery. Got several dates from tombstones. Then to visit Everett Hemmerly. Drove back to his pond – Lined with rocks he’s hauled in from fields & foundations. Fed his bass with trout pellets. PAssed tomato fields full of workers & rows of baskets full of red tomatoes.
Kristi home with me to stay all night. She plays so well by herself. Always can find something to do.

Steve Gast from Wiants & Kegelmeyer both brought printing calculators in to demonstrate. (Our cheap one wouldn’t feed paper properly). Casio was $199 & so was Canon- but Canon didn’t have “memory” features. So Kegelmeyer brought at $250 Canon with memory and said we could have it for $200. I still like the Casio better but Kathi wanted the Canon. Spent rest of day doing delivering Steve didn’t. Plant to Emahiser Road & picked up Schefflera at Terradise for new Marion Federaql at Greenwood & Fairground. Delivered little wedding to Paula Dr. & plant to Toulon that Steve forgot twice. Did wedding at St. Mary’s & shopped at Big Bear.

In at 6 for Quest Club dinner meeting – starting 2nd year as president. Every regular member present. Out at 9:00 so went to the shop and studied calculator Kathi got from Kegelmyer. Also studied year-end reports.

Checked in Rogers wreath shipment wore me out wrestling 92 wreath boxes plus 3 dozen straw wreath rings.
Had Chris, Tanya and Laura doing dried arrangements. Almost impossible to make them quit piddling & get busy to turn out some work.
Too tired to go to genealogy meeting.

Borrowed another $4,000 from National City Bank which will pay off John Belli. Now owe the bank $19,000 & me $4,000. Never has Hemmerly’s had this much debt. But hope to pay off about $1,500 a month so should have it paid by Feb 1978.
To Madge Guthery’s for Altrusa Publicity Committee Meeting. So I guess I’ve decided to stay in! Took on Scrapbook job. Our group will get out “The Blotter”.

Leisurely day at home. Repotted greenhouse plants until I ran out of soil. Cool – high 68. Kathi & kids out about 5 & we went to Kingwood. Begonias equal the gardens in Koln. Gorgeous Dahlias & many annuals.
Kristi decided to stay all night so she could read about hamsters & play with kittens. They have their eyes open.
