Spent most of day making Christmas arrangements to show my class tonight. Ways to use the basket, driftwood mats that they had made dried arrangements on. Last night of class. Ralph Felgur from OSUM brought in certificates for each member.
I was too exhausted to go to the buffet Madge & Howard Guthery had for Clyde Keeler.
Got hair cut & st at 1:00

Tuesday, October 26, 1976
Faye in to get acquainted with our facilities. She will work Wed & Thurs each week.
Had a talk with Dave Woessner about not buying every time a wholesaler is in to save on the $2.50 delivery charge. He thought I was criticizing his buying. I asked him to be on our Board of Directors. Mother in to stuff statements. Cheryl & others got billing all done. To Altrusa – Merle Lashey, Jr. spoke on his 2 yrs in Kenya with World Bible – Fascinating.

Monday, October 25, 1976
Left lease & Robitailles check for 1 weeks rent & keys at shop & he picked them up about 8:30 & left signed 1 yr lease – $250 month rent. Kathi was paying $230. Thought I owed him the weeks rent for cleaning it up.
Cleaned garage of 2 shipments & got them put away. Finished Shenedoah Christmas invoice. Michelle working Mon, Tues & Wed & Cheryle Grogg will work Thurs, Fri & Sat.
Called Faye Garverick & she would like to work just on dried arrangements.

Sunday, October 24, 1976 Miserable cold overcast day
Slept until 11. In at 1:00 & do wedding at Mt. Vernon Ave Church of Christ. To 418 Merchant & washed all window sills & window woodwork.. Just could not let anyone move in with grit lying on the sills. Also pulled out most of the marigolds & petunias that were frozen.
Home at 4:30 & cooked pot roast for supper for Howard & me.
Couldn’t get heavy duty rug cleaner to do floors yesterday.

Saturday, October 23, 1976
Kevin Hemmerly – Kenneth’s son & Terry Godby in to order wedding flowers for Nov. 27
Kathi, Bob & kids left for Oklahoma City about 10:30 after breakfast here & pictures at the shop.
Went to 418 Merchant to check things. Kathi did no cleaning, windows dirty, windowsills dusty, some floors not even swept. It sure wouldn’t pass any military inspection. Barry said she had paid me to clean it & she didn’t intend to. I don’t know how she paid me. She was also upset when I ask if she wanted to pay the $ 71 gasoline bill for her trip to Fargo in August. So I paid it. 3 weddings tonight.

Friday, October 22, 1976
Robitaille in to pay one week rent on house to bring it to the first of month. Moore’s at Kathi’s all day hauling things to storage.
Kathi, Bob & kids out here for pizza supper. I baked a frozen apple pie which we had when Cheryl & Dave Knapp, Mother, Mary & Rocky dropped in. Showed Bob slides of this summer. Davy very loving & says he’ll miss me – Kathi too

Thursday, October 21, 1976
Isabelle helping me unpack & price C’mas merchandize all day. Loren called about 5:30 saying Jessie out of surgery. Brain tumor was larger than expected, but no nerves cut. I picked him up at hospital & we had supper at L&K. Back to shop to write checks until concert time, but took until 8:30 so I didn’t go.
Took over $100 dried & artificial arrangements to Ralph Carhart’s new office. Ruth Carhart had picked out one & I used it as a theme for the others.

Wednesday, October 20, 1976
Kathi and Bob were remarried tonight at 5:15 by Pastor Rowe at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Mary & Rocky attended them, Davy, Kristi, Mother, Paris & Helen & I were there & then went to the Brown House for dinner as Bob & Kathi’s guests. I made the altar arrangement from dahlias & marigolds that Martha brought in & pompoms from Bill & Erma Hutchman’s garden.
Kathi worked until noon & then had parent teacher conferences. I worked all day with Isabelle on unpacking & pricing merchandise. Home about 9 from the wedding. Erma H. took my dried arranging class tonight.

Tuesday, October 19, 1976
To Straub’s for dinner & then they hosted the MCHS Board meeting. Everyone in the dark about why Carroll suddenly cancelled the old house tour when all the plans had been made. Richard upset about Carroll spending over $500 on the 1851 Fair without Board authorization & everyone wonders where the 1,000 co[pies (at $220) of the 1851 Fair brochures went! I took Secy notes- Henrietta Rengert recovering from operation.

Monday, October 18, 1976 Hard killing fronts on pumpkins, impatiens, geraniums
Had Cheryl Grogg & Michelle Moser in to try out for job opening for designer. Both did well so we’ll ask both of them to start work tomorrow & train together.
Martha brought in gorgeous marigolds & dahlas & Erma Hutchman brought buckets of chrsanthemums. Both had picked them before the freeze last night.
Wedding work last week $1,100, corsage work almost $500.
