Sunday November 30th
Sunny a.m. cloudy p.m. temperature about 45 degrees at 11 a.m. Stopped at Rinks for film. First customer at 11:30 but she also wanted to pay a $50 bill. By noon people lined up halfway out the parking lot and it was that way all afternoon. Everyone impressed with the arrangements. Had $1,500 in sales and 1,200 people signed for door prizes. Feel sure more than 1,500 attended.
Cheryl, her mother Dorothy and daughter Terry, Lill, Nell, Chris and I to Turroffs after and then I went up to mothers. Home about 8:30. Didn’t call on Clara Walker at funeral home.
1200 people signed for door prizes. Based on giveaway corsages probably 1,500 attended.

Saturday November 29th
Hustle and bustle getting ready for open house along with Saturday work. Call at 1:10 p.m. about wedding at 2 at First Nazarene. How could Laura “overlook” it? No payment on it was my out when I arrived at the church at 1:35 – 6 of us worked on it! $80 wedding silk.
Worked until nine- Dave Woessner in to decorate outside and help get tables moved indoors in place in back room. Everything finished and ready for tomorrow before we left.
Western greens came in Tuesday and Terry and I got them all priced.

Friday November 28th
Vava would have let mother get up because she wanted to! So I put a heavy chair by her bed and “hypnotized” her to sleep. She only slept fitfully- yelled for Emergency Squad to come- insisted her electric blanket was on. When Mary came at 10:00 told her I was so mean to her.
I went to shop for a couple of hours but was out on my feet so came home and slept until 4. Back to bed at 10. Mary stayed with mother all day, but Vava with her tonight.
Let Kass and Laura do McClure wedding.

Thursday November 27th Thanksgiving
Showed David plan to transfer hemmerly’s stock to him and Kathi.
Into Mary’s at noon- Howard wouldn’t go. David and family arrived at the same time with the ham. Mother already there. Geneva Brewer also a guest and she dominated the conversation with her religious convictions with no quarter given to anyone else’s beliefs.
David and I drove around looking at houses I would like to have for Marion County Historical Society headquarters. Boggs- brick on Oak near Wright’s Transfer. House east of Denzer Funeral Home- Dreaming of course!
Met Karen & kids at shop and show them open house preparations. Gave them Christmas decorations. Then out here for supper. Defrosted a meatloaf and leftovers from dinner. They left about 9 and I just settled down to watch “Sound of Music” when Mary called from mother’s- she was having gallbladder attack and in much pain. Olsen out of town so called Dr. Whitehead. Came right out and gave her a shot of Demerol. Got her to bed and I stayed all night along with Vava.

Wednesday November 26th
at 9 a.m. Greg editor and Wayne keenly added to delivery Force. Just barely kept the two delivery vehicles busy.
Total sales including today’s charges $4,002 receipts $2,300. Everything went well bought exactly right. Dave Wesner brought in this bud’s from Tri Rivers Greenhouse at $3.50 for 10- not bad for his first crop. He was so proud of them. And his pine cone wreaths.
Kass told me Kathy has been in touch and has been accepted by OSU for January. Going to her boyfriend’s aunts for Thanksgiving but making overtures to Kass and Pete.
Gary in at noon with his brother. I told him we got along okay without him and take rest of day off too. I don’t think he got my connotation.
Dinner with Heckers and Jordans at Turroffs. Mary Jordan has two bandages on cheeks where glasses frames hit her.
Worked on genealogy book for David Decker’s birthday.

Tuesday November 25th
Poor Gary- he can’t do anything to suit me. Uses red paper on azaleas. Prices $20 dish garden at $15 and $7.50 dish garden at $10. Doesn’t fold edges of foil when he wraps plants, etc etc. Then he calls at 11:30 in Delaware. His brother in an accident at Marion-Edison Road- so why are they in Delaware?
Busy with funeral work but still managed to get up all of tomorrow’s orders with only a couple hours overtime. I delivered one funeral delivery & hospital, but Terry handled the rest.
To Altrusa potluck at 7:00. “Shirley” executive secretary to comptroller at Gen Tel showed slides on trip to Russia in 1978. How could only four pictures out of 200 be in-focus? And not one straight but she sure could talk: “Now this is a picture of—” 200 times!!
