Friday April 22nd 1977 rain temperature 60
Pat O’Hare in with MCH report. Found info on old Hemmerly’s federal unemployment in 10 minutes for him. He said not one client in 5 could have come up with info!
Worked unpacking shipments and on Mother’s Day orders.
Stopped at Caledonia restaurant to advise on Plants. Had dinner- Barber spare ribs $3.50
Watched TV and scratched poison ivy.

Thursday April 21st 1977
Howard cut Peachtree by driveway yesterday. It and the Japanese black pine didn’t survive the winter. Photographed crabapples, tulips, wildflowers. Picked off about 1,000 daff blooms but late one’s still pretty. Edited slides on Philippines to three trays of 140 each. Cleaned house superficial.
Green Thumb Garden Club out to tour Garden at 6:15 to 7:15 then I dashed into Woman’s Club home for Quest Club Guest Day. Had 61 there and speaker on “Aura Phenomena: The Secret Lives of plants”. Talked to Mr. Anderla about rape of Marion’s downtown buildings.

Wednesday April 20th 1977 showers 82 crabs, apples, pear Red Bud, lilac full bloom
3 wedding appointments and Sam Feder (National Pottery) in bought some Christmas. Laura and Cheryl only in design room and did great. Three large blooms out on lovely pink striped amaryllis.

Frank Geyer from WDIF and Ned Cook from WMRN in. John Schaffer from Consumer News in to pick up ad copy. Bill Lamers from Indiana Glass in.
Took funeral work to Delaware. Took mother along and visited Breese’s florist. Called George Davis at Maple Lee but too busy to talk to me about mechanics of importing baskets.
Historical Society meeting at Hemmerly’s. Still hashing old house group money. Lasted until 10:30. I served cookies and orange juice.
Thelma Brocklesby called saying they are selling their farm and moving to Columbus with Helen in July.

Worked on advertising copy for next 3 weeks. To Burroughs Club at Margaret Iams at 2. They are having afternoon meetings now. Mary and Rocky in with cactus- $60 worth. To their house for supper and then to Camera Club. My shot of Kristi among spring beauties was voted third place.
Ron from Paul Minor in. Bought baskets and dried materials.
Watched the end of “Jane Eyre” on TV.

Set out 200 trilliums from last night’s woods trip. Howard in with me at 12 to do wedding at Church of God. Then drove through Southeast Marion- all crabs in full bloom and beautiful.

Friday April 15th 1977
At work until 12:30 and then to lunch at Epworth with their golden age group. Gave talk on wildflowers and the development of the gardens at Terradise. Home about 5:30 and Howard and I went to Mrs. Waits Woods. Saw deer tracks. Trillium’s just coming into bloom. Dug three bags full- sometimes 30 or more in one clump.
