Left for Cincinnati about 9:00. Stopped to see Mother. Asleep in chair but upset that her blue afghan was on bed & she had been cold all night. Wanted afghan on table in fron of her. Also had her Hildreth book on a table she couldn’t reach. I left notes for aides asking these things be kept within reach.

Karen went to living room & read newspapers when we arrive but I went in to talk with her before going to basement to watch David do his payroll & accounts payable on computer. He signed up for “CompuServe” but I can’t see value of it. Karen’s parents and granny over about 3 – snacks on porch & drinks. Dinner on patio about 5 – Jed chose menu of tiny links, half baked potatoes, green beans, waldorf salad, relish plate. David made homemade ice cream & Karen made a motorcycle cake (with a flat tire). Called Mrs. James V. Rice daughter of Harvey Pease who wanted Marion County Histories.

Called Marion Manor to tell them I wanted to take Mother to Richwood & they said I couldn’t as orderly (male) would be off for 2 days!

Wrote Uncle Allen explaining financial plan for Hildreth Genealogy. We each get 30 books – which is the profit on the $5,000 expenses plus 10 books each.

In to see Mother & while wheeling her down hall saw Leora Ankeny’s room so chatted with her. Mother disappointed she couldn’t go for a ride.

Dave & I shopped at Big Bear ($40) and got yous for haldeman kids for Jed’s birthday. ($20)

Supper at Wendy’s.

Watched TV & worked cross word puzzles.

Told Dave he could call Kathi & she asked to talk to me. She has not received the custody entry that Randy Huffman drew up that I got Thursday (mailed Tuesday).

Exam at 9:00 – Guess I have forgotten how to study as I was not ‘up” on the points asked – 12 pages.

Left Toledo about 11 & dropped Mayme & Martha off. Down to see Mother. She said Kass & David had been to see her but didn’t say anything about my not being there for 2 days. Stopped at shop & picked up David & Jed & on to Marion Tech for 2:00 appointment with Dick Bryson. Went over brochure with Jan Petras & Dedication with Dick. David listened in after fending Cheryl’s computer class was too basic to attend – Back to Cinci.

Out home & Dave OK. Everything fine while I was gone. We went to woods & he cut a big branch broken off high in a box elder tree & a big limb from the “tree house”.

In at 7:00 for Board meeting at center. Cottrells had it cleaned beautifully & ceiling painted that Wayne Harper put in after it fell. Dick seemed to be groping – and after all that cleaning! Took Dave in to mow Mary’s yard.

Left Marion at 6:30 with Mame Harmon & Martha Mills for Toledo and the Garden Clubs of Ohio “Landscape Design School” at Crosby Gardens. Lovely area west of Toledo – Navarre cabin there – small houses used as club hdqtrs – well designed gardens.

Course well planned & instructor good except the first one who read hers from back of room. Jot Carpenter from Ohio State led us thru redesigning a garden.
Martha & I stayed at Red Roof Inn on Reynolds Rd & missed connections with others there to go to dinner so ate nearby. I drew plan of 300’ of Terraidse using new “graphics” learned today.
