Set out petunias and pansies. Several people here for belated Open Garden, including Cecil Haycook.
To Neva and Jim Harris’ for a party for Glen and Mildred Patton here from Rockford, Illinois where Glen is a Baptist Minister. Nice time. BBB still quiet. Toad’s singing tonight again. Saw no eggs from other time.

Friday April 29th 1977 Frost 28 degrees
Took truck to Jesionek’s to get door repaired and decided to have side done where Mitch sideswiped a post.
To Fred Smith’s after work and went to his Woods. Lots of trilliums, Jack-in-the-pulpit. Ordered handmade to my specs a leather camera bag. Stopped to see Ruben and Marie Smith. Some frost damage in Wood. Young Hickory and walnuts. Got info from Columbus customs office on importing baskets. No restrictions if order is under $250 so Edgar Buenesuesco and told him to ship baskets are freight to Columbus..

Wednesday April 27th 1977 temperature 73 low 33 sunny
Played hooky from a busy Secretary’s Day and went to the woods with Sarah Reichardt from west of Green Camp. Went down Bear Swamp Road West of Raymond to her Old Homestead (Longnecker) and found Viola Rostrata & Hepatica Rotundiloba. Lunch on a log looking at them and poison ivy. Dug clumps for my garden. Then to Bear Swamp woods. Now a sanctuary open easy woods and found Rostrata & Rotundiloba there also to Sarah’s surprise. Walked about 5 miles. To shop at 4:45 and waited on customers till 6. Set out some of the plants and then collapsed. Fels-Naptha bath.
