Sunday July 3rd 1977
in to do wedding and home at 2:30. Got food ready for picnic. David, Karen, Kids and Hink [Bob Hinklin] arrived about 4:15 along with Mother, Mary & Rocky. David brought $24 ham that we got right into the oven. Bernard, Mary & Carl, Paris and Helen, Margaret Ann and Garrison and Darren. Had three bowls of scalloped corn! Mary brought home made ice cream. Tried to eat on patio- no mosquitoes but black bugs drove us inside.
David brought Laurel and Hardy and Abbott and Costello movies. Erickson’s out to see them. I had planned to show Philippines slides, but didn’t have a chance!

Thursday June 30th 1977 thunderstorm evening.
Mrs. Jones here cleaning. Phoned MCHS meeting to Star and Consumer News. In at 4:30 for physical at Doctor Lenzo’s. Everything good except blood test that showed kidney problem- that coupled with my night urinating urgency made Enzo think I should have x-ray. Appointment at 9:30 a m tomorrow so started on barium enema regime immediately, and me with no lunch!
Al pulled in after me as I got home. Says he will respect Kathi’s decision to stay with Bob, but feels she was pressured and is concerned.
Francis Hammerly called from Nashville to ask date of our reunions says Harry and Kathy want to come and he will bring his bride Estella!

Wednesday June 29th 1977
Gave out $3,300 in bonus checks after withdrawing $3,000 from my savings to cover it. Gave Dave $650 and Laura $600. Neither thought it necessary to say more than thank you when I handed it to them.
Mary & I out to dinner before MCHS meeting at OSUM. Rocky having stomach problems.
Good meeting, fast-paced- Judge Myers would have approved but he didn’t show up. Motion passed the board meeting minutes should be read and that’s what he’s against. Jim Miley’s oral history project well received.

Tuesday June 28th 1977
Kathi woke me up at 8:30 with phone from Fargo to tell me she is leaving Bob and will be home with the kids Monday PM. When I got to work there was a call from her. Bob wanted to talk to me. He took off work to reason with Kathi. He “loves her and is willing to go to counseling to save their marriage, but Davy is impossible to love.” His hatred of Davy was in every word. I checked Al’s credit rating. He has two outstanding loans and his bankruptcy was for $48,000 when he lost his business.
To Altrusa dinner meeting. Last one of the year- took pictures of everything for scrapbook. Called Kathi back and she is staying with Bob.

Sunday June 26th 1977
Slept late, but even so Berean Church was locked when I got there. Everyone there at 1:30 for a 2:30 wedding and I forgot kneeling bench- not placed with wedding things but got it back in plenty of time.
Transplanting zinnias to even up the bed and cleaned grass and weeds out of bank below greenhouse. Sowing seed doesn’t give as even beds as setting out plants.

Saturday June 25th 1977
Serviced three weddings. St. Paul’s Lutheran in Prospect, First Nazarene & St Marys. Connie’s last wedding was the 11:30 one at St Marys and Tonya did the one at Grace Baptist.
Got more stuff out for sidewalk sale totals $100 on plants and $265 on “junk”.

Friday June 24th 1977 hot 85° & humid.
Blood taken for tests at Doctor Lenzo’s office. First step of physical that Hemmerly’s Inc board authorized for its president.
Spent most of day hunting up stuff for sidewalk sale. Picked up candelabra and aislel cloth that had been left at Forest Lawn Presbyterian since April 24th.
Helen Holdridge and husband in shop. Her daughter was Peace Corps volunteer in Philippines. Mindanao area.
To Mount Gilead at 5 for Luanne Augustine’s wedding. Bernard there with Jordans. He helped me load up after wedding. Home by six. Watched “West Side Story” on TV. I had never seen it. Musical classic. Very tired and headachy.
