Trella Hemmerly – 1977-10-30

Sunday October 30th 1977 – High 63
Gorgeous day!
David called at 8:30. He forgot to set clock back and thought it was 9:30. I may go down next week for a historic preservation conference.
Howard helped me plant bulbs under apple tree by shack and under the cotoneaster and Charles viburnum, ixia, puschkinia, Cilla, crocus and April Tears Narcissus.
In to shop to get balance of bulbs not sold and boards to make stable for hand carved creche.
Sorted shingles that I got from Bowen House and took to mother’s to store. Picked up chicken and coleslaw and ate on Deck. Bill and Erma stopped by. Bill got genealogy info in Pennsylvania for five generations and pictures of tombstones.

Friday October 28 1977
Big leaf fall last night but still a few trees showing gold.
Carroll Neidhardt in with sketches of Bowen house and word that the Historical Society may get a years free rent of the second floor if we pay for the 3 second story windows. About $400. Later called to say Laiply will adopt his plan. Called all board members for meeting in my office and they voted unanimously for it.
Serviced wedding at 6. Unpacked shipments and made nine corsages.
Bowen House restoration accepted by Laiply and board of historical society. Freeman here a.m. to fix TV. Now there’s no color on any channel! Before it was only 10 that was bad.

Tuesday October 25th 1977 – 65
Carroll Neidhart called me yesterday asking me to take picture of first Bowen house at 294 East Center Street as workmen were there. So I went down before going to work and started photographing. Told the workmen about history of house and they let me go inside. Mr Laiply of Big Red Quick Print has bought it. So I called Carroll and he is going to contact him.
Took pumpkins, scarecrows and leaves to Altrusa meeting. But didn’t stay for dinner because of foul-up last month on my reservation. Tired so I went to bed early.
