Got 10 copies of Hildreth Genealogy ready to send to my first & second cousins. They have the option of returning.

Mary & I picked mother up about 3 & went to Marysville. Harold Hildreth paid for book I left earlier. Went to Billie Morris & Ruth Ann’s & they bought a copy.

Tried to get death certificates but the Hildreths died too long ago. Must write Vital Statistics in Columbus.

To Altrusa dinner meeting. Good chicken.

Royce out to clean but I was busy elsewhere so she really sluffed off.
Helen Romine & [grandson] Daren out to check on our birds. Daren knows a chickadee but not much else. He is in first grade. Helen says Phil Boyd’s girl friend is Carol Mitchell – a divorcee – corroborated Phil’s story that she called him & said she needed a shoulder to cry on as her husband left her.

In at 11:00 for last minute touches. Erma Hutchman – Mildred Grigsby & Margaret Uncapher had spiced cider & wheat cracker ready to serve. Everything in apple pie order. People started coming before 12. About 225 lines filled on guest book – many were families & not all signed – I think between 400 & 500 were there. Mary came to take pictures. I gave “remarks” along with Ron Malone, Mayor, Judge Charton Myers, master of ceremonies. I said Society was found by members of his adult education class – not by him (last fact not mentioned). Phil Boyd there with his girl friend & her 3 kids. Dave Decker helped out.

Cottrells, Gary Barnhart, Phyllis Malo & I to Turroff’s for supper with Mary, Ken & Dave.

Very satisfying day – Another goal accomplished.

Nice day but only about 60.

Worked on the 11 Hildreth books I have ready to send to cousins – correcting pgs 72 & 73 – Pierces & Goff. Then typed the chart I want to send with each book showing how all lines connect.

Dave out with Chris Opp after school. He has $15 saved for a BB gun & when I told him he could not have a BB gun as long as he lived here he went into his usual pout. But did type his Jupiter report for Astronomy. I think it is very good.

Mary & Ken went to Circleville for Pumpkin Show – High only 45.

So good to spend a whole day at home.

Windy – Cold
Picked Irene Clark up & to Center along with 9 others for picture session with Kathi Rollison on the Star – Carroll Neidhart directing it in costume. I stayed and worked on background story for Star of who had owned the site for last 160 years. Had to drag my typewriter in to use. Prepared recipes for Eber Baker Beans to be printed by Big Red & they had invoice for invitations at $126 – when I protested they refigured and it was $60! Tried to exchange light globes at Sears bu they have to be ordered. Stopped to see Mopther about 3:30 but she was asleep. Picked up snapshots at Meijers & home by 4:00 – Dave not home & no note. Since I had 4 hr sleep I took nap instead of worrying. Hear garage door close about 7:00. He had been with Chris Opp along river as far as Roberts Road. Heated up spaghetti in microwave. Crossword puzzle & TV. Watched Barbra Streisand & Ryan O’Neal in “The Main Event” Nice to be lazy for an evening. Wind howling outside.

Lovely Day
Murrays [sic – Murphys] planted wheat across road. In at 10:30 to have front tooth filled. To Walkers Jewelry & got wrist band for me and had links taken from Dave’s that we got a K-Mart. To Mary’s, but she had gone on Senior Citizens tour to Bucyrus. Down to see Mother & took her out on encircled patio. She told me she had to go to RR Station & take bus to Mrs. Ratliffs to stay all night because she didn’t want to stay there anymore. Called Dave to see if he would ride bicycle in to mow lawns but he didn’t want to so I came home & got supper. Fresh metts & home style fried potatoes.

Back in at 6:00 for MCHS Board Meeting. Dick had printed agenda for us – very complete – and a summary of brainstorming session last week. Gary Barhnart had Halloween refreshments.

Wayne Harper had 5 of the light fixtures up & the bill came to $240.15 out of our $250.

Howard put in storm windows.
