Diane rode with me to Mary Welker’s wedding. Overcast but Pleasant. Liberty Presbyterian founded in 1810 is on Route 315- huge oak trees and Mary had 8 Fern baskets arranged on pedestals to frame the setting. Sun came out on ceremony and Tim looked handsome in brown tux. I took telephoto shots during ceremony.
Had another wedding at First Nazarene in the evening.

Thursday August 23rd 1979
Mary J called- went to see Bernard at work this a.m. She is so hurt that they have cut her and Carl out completely but as she put it “They have plenty of time for his ‘Bernie’ friends, but none for his ‘Bernard’ friends.” She told him he didn’t look happy like someone in love and he said he wasn’t happy but he wasn’t unhappy. I told her we would have to write him off until he comes to his senses.
Went shopping for towels- $30 worth for Mary Welker. She made up her wedding flowers today at shop- red anthurium, white silk freesia and miniature lotus pods to go with pink dresses.
Bought grey part wool dress and black pants suit at Sutton’s- purse at Penneys and film at Twin Fair so guess I’m ready for my trip.
Very lazy this evening TV and reading.

Bernard in to pay bill and wanted to know if we would be at Turoff’s. I evaded the question but let him assume we would be. Then called Mary Jordan (we had planned to eat at Isaly’s instead) as Bernard seem to be asking for us to be there- said he had missed us, but had been so busy. Said his new mother-in-law was impossible to get along with and they were looking for an apartment. So I called Mary J and persuaded her and Carl to go to Turoff’s- but no Bernard and Bettie. Barry Baker ate with us and Mary Hecker came in alone. Kenny in the hospital for medication- has to be shots. He saw Bernard and Bettie leave County Health Department where she works at 5:30 so where were they?

Jed sick all night- could it be the pizza Karen fed him? They left for Holmes & Coshocton Co. Sure enjoyed having them here for two and a half days. Jed took one step when he didn’t realize he had let go.
In to shop by 11:30. Jody Cole from Taylor Publishing in Dallas called with a couple of questions (where to put names of Township chairmen- decided with the township stories) and when I asked if it would be shipped on schedule Friday she caused casually said “Oh no, it would be another two weeks!” And me with a ticket for Reno on September 18th. So I had to cancel that and will be going next Tuesday August 28th will cost $125 more because I didn’t get it 30 days before flying. Total $375.
Met Hal Boncutter at 6:30 at Bowen House and we laid out program book for next year. Jack Tozer will take Bill Pohler’s place on the board. 10 at board meeting. Log Cabin going up at Fairground.

Picked up pizzas at Angelo’s Jim Dow and he gave them to David. Took them to Mary’s to eat. Kenny up but not dressed. Then to Southland Cinema to see Muppet Movie. Seems impossible that Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy aren’t people.
