Saturday, October 15, 1955
At shop all day. Mother & Daddy home from trip about 2. Got caught in floods at Elmira, NY. Headache so home & to bed at 6:00.

Friday, October 14, 1955
Roger & I burned limbs from locust tree that were cut when phone line put in. In at noon to work. Mary took Roger to movie while & chaperoned MYF hayride. 40 kids 2 trucks. Lunch at Rev. Lockard’s after.

Thursday, October 13, 1955
Roger in with me & put up storm windows. Gave Dried Arrangement talk to Garden Path Club at Barnhills. Met Pat Esterline & Kathy after bowling & uptown for “Old Fashioned Bargain Days”. Pat here for supper & all night. TV. Bed 10:30

Wednesday, October 12, 1955
Roger hauled stones on both driveways while I worked at shop from 10:30 till 6:00. 2 big funerals * hospital pieces. Kathy had supper ready when I got home. Got things ready for talk tomorrow.

Tuesday, October 11, 1955
At shop. Folks left about 2:00. I just got home at 5:30 when Deyson called saying Roger Hemmerly* had come in. Mary & Rocky brought him out here after supper.

[*Ray Hemmerly’s nephew, who lived in Dayton Beach and came to Ohio annually to visit for a few weeks]

Monday, October 10, 1955
At shop all day alone & really kept me hopping. Folks getting ready to leave on little vacation.

Sunday, October 9, 1955
Kathy to Sunday School & church. I put up transverse rod & bamboo draperies at new kitchen window.* Bill & Erma Hutchman out to gather hickory nuts. Got 1/2 bushel shelled. Thelma Swisher over with kids. MYF vesper service down in woods. About 20 kids. Beautiful day.

Saturday, October 8, 1955
In at 7:00 to finish Scholl-Carbetta wdding at shop till 4:30. Got bulb orders ready. Took Erma’s out and met Bill Hutchman’s sister Mabel. Kathy had dinner ready. Good. To homecoming game. Caledonia beat LaRue 32-6. Kathy to dance with Bob Swisher. David & I home for T.V. Poured stoop & furred rec room.*

Friday, October 7, 1955
At shop till noon. Then to Garden Club meeting at Mary Lockwood’s. Installed as Vice President. Made flower up for ‘Donia Homecoming. Sat with Kiles & Clarks. Donia beat LaRue 32-6. Kathy to dance afterwards with Bob Swisher. See Saturday. Rained.

Thursday, October 6, 1955
Warm & balmy. Deyson & Daddy out with mushrooms. Found 14 puff balls on bank along road. Bowling with 9th grade girls & Dorothy Kile & Ruth Ann Wells. Mary & Rocky out to get steps from back door. Lined bamboo draperies & ironed. Bed 12:00.
