Beautiful sunny day. So good to have Kathi’s Davie here for my birthday. Raked leaves & took pictures in the woods. Bakers for supper.

In to shop at 4 to see Fred Landis – Lion Ribbon Salesman. David & Karen picked me up at shop & we brought steak home to grill for supper on poorch. Howard over too. Then David, Karen & I went to see “The Graduate” !! When we got in the Mustang to come home David lifted Karen’s left hand up for me to see a diamond!! He gave it to her last night – and they wanted me to be the first to know. We came home & had Daquiris to celebrate. She’s a sweet girl and dotes on David as much as he dotes on her.

Up at 5:15 soe we could see sunrise over the canyon from Bright Angel. Breakfast cooked out in campgrounds. Drove to Pinnacle Point.

Friday, July 12, 1968
To neighbors – Bobitt – for coffee. Then lunch & off for North Rim of Grand Canyon in 2 cars. From Marble Canyon to Jacob’s Lake the Vermillion Cliffs are stupendous. Nice cabin at North Rim. Walked out Bright Angel Point in moonlight.

David built rockets all day. Left Davie in base nursery & we drove into Phoenix for dinner & up on South Mountain to see lights.
