Didn’t wake till 9:30. Sis [Autumn Bills] at shop since 8. Cleaned a little & put extra tables away. Not much doing. Wrote 1968 balance of income tax $2,685! Howard here when I got home. Coot on pond, wood ducks on river – crows – owl – kinglets in wood. Hepaticas, winter aconite, Christmas rose, crocus, squill, spring beauties blooming. 5 garter snakes around pond. Flood starting down. David fertilized 633 Bordeaux & the front lawn here. Set out about 500 pansy plants & planted seeds in greenhouse.

Saturday, April 5, 1969
Rain – but deliveries went well. Shop full all day. First time cash register ever went over $3,000 for 1 day. I worked corsages & phone all day. Carolyn Smith had wrapped Fite Memorial lilies wrong so had to send her out there for an hour to redo them. Kathi called & I didn’t recognize her voice! Home about 10:00 – River flooding. Bank by garage door slid down & blocked door.

David routing deliveries & with the old truck & new one too & my wagon everything like clockwork. Got all the church deliveries out today. I worked on corsages all PM as Shirley was really bogged down. Did wedding in Richwood & the whole gang worked until 9:30. Home about 11:30.

No plants from Engel at 11:00 so I called & they were vague as to when we would get them so I atook the new truck & went down. Left at 12 back at 3:00.

Callie had 5 kittens – 3 tiger – one mostly white & one calico.
