Washed my hair and then got ready to go to Aunt May’s for dinner.
Swell eats per usual. Roast chicken. In the PM Floy, the next door neighbors and I went to a wedding. The daughter of the former pastor of First Baptist -not so nice. They all acted awkward.
Wally and Louis met my car at 6:30 and we all went to BY. Then talked in church parlors and Gilmore’s until time for Fireside. Louis said he never saw anything like it. Stopped for Sundaes and they both walked with me home.

Didn’t get up until 11 and then had a terrible headache. Spent nearly all day in bed. About 8 p.m. it let up and I sewed on my pink dress. Wally called asking me to go to State’s track meet but I didn’t feel like it.
About 11:30 Mrs. Haldeman called saying she was at the bus station and wanted me to call Walter and tell him to come down.
So I did- and he did.

Scavenger Party at church. Mary McBay, Roland Snow, another couple and Walt and I went together. Here’s some of the things: burned-out 10 watt clear bulb, a tassel from Davy’s worn-out rug. Untorn 4 cent sales tax stamp. 5 eggplant seeds, one rotten egg. Had two clerks at the Big Bear shaking eggs to find one. Our group was also brass phonograph needles, sawdust, cricket, 30 watt fuse. Refreshments. Wally and I walked home.

Thursday May 2nd 1935.
Nearly drowned going to work today. Terribly windy too.
Mrs. Davis started cleaning my room.
George Hensel did the Lane Motor Freight today. I guess he’ll do it all eventually and leave me more time to help Bill. I’ll still have to check it though.
Cleaned out drawers etc. this evening.

Had a fish sandwich in my lunch today. Terrible!
Wally called this evening. Had been over to see Louis and to see about a job at Prr[sic] & Moore’s & Ross.
Brushed my hair good tonight to get the dandruff out. Davis asked me to go to Edwin’s with them but I’m going to work on my dress.

Walt and I rode down with Mr Shelton. He said he would take us to Valley Dale sometime.
Met Walt about 7 and went to see “Roberta” at the State. Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. They surely can dance.
Wally didn’t come in.

Sunday School.
Planned to go back with Bernard Brooks when he took Louis Woolum down. He’s going to Office training. But 4 boys and one girl wasn’t fair. So I’m going back with Mr Shelton. Our family took a drive to Prospect and stopped at a woods near Green Camp. Lovely spring flowers- violets, Dutchman’s breeches, Trillium, wild phlox, spring beauties.
When getting ready for bed Bernard Brooks, Bob Haldeman and Walt back from Columbus drove up and took me for a drive. Wally staying all night.

Cut out pink material that I got last winter. Daddy bought a gun to scare dogs and we kids shot it. I’m just learning but it’s fun.
Rained terrible about noon. Daddy and Mary went to the garden.
Walt and his mother went to Bucyrus. She’s home for a visit before she goes back to Kansas City for good.

Daddy came after me. When I got home Vernon Brooks and Walt was there and then we went to Burches.
Mary and Bob were still there. Then after Rosina, Mary and Bob and Walt and I rode around.
Mary and Bob seem happy but also rather sappy.
They sure don’t have much except love -maybe that’s enough. All over to Burches then back to Rosina’s for home made ice cream. Delicious. Bernard Brooks brought Walt and I home about 11:00. To bed at about 12:00.
