Thursday, April 15, 1982 Gorgeous Day Sunny 75
Helped Howard burn stacks of brush down along river & picked up hundreds of sticks. To Caledonia to sale of Helen Campbell’s things. She lived just south of Methodist Church. First Class everything. Prices paid were unbelievably high. $210 for a small spinning wheel. – $25 for a glass C’mas tree ornament. $50 for artificial C’mas tree.
Brenda Enseman & Diane Zacharias out to protest Kass’s take over of the shop leaving Judy out of management decisions (prices at Easter) but telling her to pass on personnel decisions that were unpleasant – setting up of “13 Rules” – then Kass disobeys them. SHe told them I would have to be paid if they used my car or greenhouse & they didn’t want to pay me. Ordered shirt for Bob Litzenburg (who didn’t even work for Hemmerly’s at Christmas & the smocks were C’mas gifts.) but didnt want Terry to have one. They talked an hour with grievances – Then we walked in the woods.
Spoke at DAR meeting on “A Walk In A Colonial Garden” – USed Monticello, Williamsburg & Georgetown slides. Was given #10 & an application blank.
