Thursday August 9 1979
At shop at 8:30 to help Paris & Helen load up flea market stuff & we just got to tent when storm warnings again to get into buildings. But only rain- no wind. Not many people but Paris & Helen stayed until 4:00 P.M. Rained off & on all day & everyone was at tractor pull.
Had about 20 for our Historical Society picnic. Wanda made sloppy joes- meat donated by Sautter who couldn’t be chairman.
About 9:15 when tractor pull over tent was crowded and so totaled about $200 for the day.
Big attraction was the jail register from 1872 to 1923 every prisoner entered with charges, description of person, cost to county etc. Human nature hasn’t changed. Murder, larceny, rape, defraud, riding railroad cars, lunacy, burglary. Bill Thatcher loaned it but would like to have it for the society.
Dick Carey loaded one I couldn’t get in his van and took to shop. Home about 11- exhausted.
