Couldn’t connect popcorn machine so sold it cold. Also had balloons and stick candy.
At Fairgrounds by 9 and Hutchmans and Gates busy setting up. Had to get some more tables and used riser from old shop where we displayed mum plants. Bill recorded his Saturday program at Fairground and came back to 10 to tent about 11:30 saying bad storm there in Hardin County headed our way so started putting things under tables. I just got back to tent from getting camera case when it struck- 60 mile an hour wind and beating rain. Loudspeakers said leave tents and get to buildings- too far so Marie Seiter, Erma and I got in my car. Gates and Bill stayed in tent and men held it up with the posts. Leota under table when we got back- things a mess but only casualty was glass on class of ‘15 picture. Sun out by 1. To shop at 2 to buy Randall stuff. Tornado touch down in Southern States but Faye’s [Faye Garverick] house okay.
Ladies day so tent crowded all day. Sold about $350 stuff. Closed up about 10 and Wayne Harper volunteered to stay all night. Sold 100 Denzer funeral home fans for $0.10 each. Carl Lehner said he got $0.75.
