Mailed Howard’s income tax & estimated payment & my real estate tax payment. Worked on Bylaws Revisions.
Worked up outlines for Long Range Planning Committee using OAHSM “Agenda for the Future” & John Hickson’s Sept 88 thoughts. To meeting at 3:00 with wayne Fowler,Chr at Boy Scout Headquarters – John & Harry Mauk there.
At 5 to HH to pick up Charlton Myers’ copy of Geo W King’s book to take to Cinci tomorrow. Made 2 copies of it. Home for supper of lima beans & pork. At 8:30 wrote up actions of LR Planning committee – updated membership records from Margaret’s notes – printed out membership list with possible volunteeres and board marked.
Trying to get things organized for 2 days in Cincinnati.

Prepared National Register application. In at 10:30 to Heritage Hall to train Mary Louise Harper as office volunteer – She’s a doll & so many personal problems.
Removal of lockbox frame revealed 7 pieces of mail dating from 1944 to 1977. Copied face & envelopes & called Roy Clark to pick them up. Went up steps to 2nd floor of Gift Shop for first time.
To prepare Register nomination researched Marion Stars for April, May & December 1910 – Full page story on “Building Completed” – So much fascinating detail that we need. Confirmed John G. Uncapher as contractor. He wrote his name on framed area where we removed boxes.
Mary Louise struggle with our old typewriter to type form for nomation. She took another form home to type.
Met Mary for supper at Isaly’s. Went to bed at 7:00 & right to sleep.

Picked up Newsletter at P.O. (from David). Stopped atl bank & set up appointment with trust officer for March 15. (for Howard)
first thought a few changes would do & could use what David created in Ventura. then realized it need more. Guess I’ll have to learn Ventura Publisher. Put it back on disc & took corrected hard copy & disc to P.O. Worked on cleaning up greenhouse when I came back – made cuttings of succulents, impatiens & geraniums & put into soil or perlite.
Had call asking permission to “run” me – along with 4 others – for Queen of 4-H Building Program – People vote by paying $1 toward fund – Need bio & pix by Monday.
Called Haldemans. David took boys to a “Cartoon Festival” movie. Maxim understands some English but speaks mostly in single words.
Racoon on deck – River Otters on TV. Marty Stouffer’s program “Fun Loving Animals” in Algonquin State Park – Acid rain threatens them.

Worked on the Second Draft of Chapter 1. In to Heritage Hall at 12:30 – ran off copies of “gift membership” letters for Charlie Evers to sign & got his weather comments. To Travelogue at Palace from 1:15 until 2:00 – Then back to Heritage Hall to lead Claridon Homemakers Club & husbands on tour of Heritage Hall. Vera Mae Seckel set it up – 12 people. All enjoyed even tho some said they didn’t think they would.
Met Mary for Huber’s land purchases for Willis Nye – Stopped gift membershop letters at Cottrells so membership card could be included – visited 15 min. Then to Palace again to see all of Tom Sterling’s “Vancouver Island” – mostly closeup wildlife – glorious.
Stopped at Seckel’s on way home to pick up picture of Prince Imperial to use with my Day Before Yesterday story. Visited – Howser family genealogy.
Kathi called to see if we want to attend Russian Circus while we’re in Reno. Gave her new schedule.

Worse [sic] storm in 5 yrs. 9 people killed near Tipp City in 50 car pile up.
Worked out schedule for trip West. Sent copies to Kathi, Dave & Uncle Allen. Also sent copy of Edward Huber Memorial Association to Vivian and David Bratten with D’s letter about Amish threshing- Completed first draft of Chapter 1 – Landforms, Clearing, Survey. 1705 words- Maxim arrived at Haldeman’s at 2:00 AM.

In to Heritage Hall to meet Nancy Nowlin along with Jack Telfer to interview her as writer for Rotary Club Production on Marion Co. history. She brought no samples of her writing & is working for a credit bureau. she would expect $10 an hour. Jack & I agreed that we could better on our own.
Grocery shopped & home just as snow increased along with wind. Whiteout by mid-afternoon. David called about 8 asking about conditions as Maxim was due in from NY City by van – 2 vans carrying kids left Poconos Saturday AM – were last heard of near Ashland on I-71

Had talk with Howard. Showed him the value chart that bank prepared for his 73 US Bonds – value is almost $173,000 – of this $110,000 is interest. He again said several times that he wants me to have a considerable part- mentioned $100,000. I suggested a living trust administered by BancOne – would list bonds to go to each of MCHS, Kirkpatrick United Methodist Church & Salvation Army. Also list ones to go to me. Called Wayne Crum at bank & he will have trust officer come to house to make it out.-
Finished Howard’s 1989 tax return. His taxes are about $700 to pay. He paid $1,000 estimated.
Mary Louise Smith Harper called – wants to work at Heritage Hall- Set her up for Thursday AM – Jack called about meeting with Nancy Nowlin, writer for script for Rotary Production of history of Marion.
To Al’s in Cardington for dinner with Mary & Jordans.

In at 9 for an appointment with Dave Sheely with my income tax info – Need to phone cost of range at Bordeaux.
Stopped at Heritage Hall to pick up brick orders – 20 more – to to 704 now.
Urged Jack Telfer to write description of Heritage Hall so I can get application for National Register.
Stopped at shop with lease – ok’d it. Kass has bid on a new cooler in NW corner of shop. Had to have a new hot water heater. Also planted “seed” about moving New Dimensions into dried area of Hemmerly’s – She admitted dried area could be moved to present New Dimensions.
arn in RichCharlie Evers had found 1925 story about Prince Imperial while he was in will & Reed Howser’s barn in Richwood.
Sent another disk to David with that story of Prince Imperial moved to Heritage Hall – called him to tell him – They will have a Russian student* for a month – Mary out & we walked in woods – flood swept away most limbs down from ice except very large ones. Several bank trees into River – including the witch hazel.
Letter from Kristi with $50 payment – only owes $50 more.

Burned the papers across the road but brush pile only partly burned. Worked on Newsletter, moving stories to proper order-
In at 4:00 to meet Mary for dinner aelen Rominickson, Charlie Evers & Jack Telfer at Heritage Hall for study of revision of Constitution which is new bylaws & standing rules. Lots of good suggestions.
Long Board meeting – Carroll Neidhart’s letters to cap it off – complaingin about not getting contract for sign & Charlie’s objections to logo. Adopted my 4 suggestions for Marion Corporate Centennial – marion City Book – reprint Geo. W. King’s Marion Steam Shovel Family – bring Fleeting Moments to Marion as fund raiser – Produce Walking Tour brochure & lead tours during celebration. After meeting Charlton, Tom Wagner & I wrote resolution to send to County Commissioners concerning repairs to Courthouse dome & clock, asking them to be aware of historice significance. Home about 11:00.
