Painted benches second coat. Ray also put up 3 new sections of rail fence toward pond.

Called David & then Larry Winchester about details of reprint. Platesl being made today but discovered David used the wrong file for Geo Brown’s Foreword.
Ray Foertsch brough his big rototiller & in about 1/2 hr turned a weed patch into an ash pile. (Daddy’s name for friable soil ready to plant) – Couldn’t resist it – all 70’x20′ and saved all the prairie seeds I’d saved for 3 yrs – Sullivants & whorled milkweed, liatris scariosa & spicata, western ironweed, solidago rigida & ridelli, cord grass.
Also dug out all the old vegetable seeds & planted lettuce, corn, broccoli, caultiflower, cabbage, pepper, zuchinni, muskmelon, radishes – Also purchased new seeds & plants of tomatoes, pepper, cabbage. – to hedge my bets1
In at 3:00 to HH to meet Judge Myers & Lou Whitmoare for interview & picture about The Story of Marion, Ohio for the centennial tab.
Shopped at Big Bear $50.02 – got gas for car & mower.
Checking acct statement shows $5,000 payment from field – Int not pd on land contract on Normandy. $15,000 balance.

Used [PC] Anywhere with modem to send files to David that didn’t arrive by mail.
Forest group arrived at 10:00 (instead of 11) – Lovely sunny warm day. Toured the lower woods – Trilliums & mertensia & phlox still blooming. Sack lunch on deck supplemented by fruit salad from Kathi’s recipeful from Alaska I decided not to go to Travel series with them. Too nice a day to be coopped up in a theater – In to Sears to get paint when I mailed more copy to David for reprint.
Tabor Allison – 36 yr old professor of botany at OSUM finally made it to Terradise. Spent delightful evening showing him all my treasures. Gave him a list of trees, shrubs & wildflowers growing at Terradise. Drove to abandoned Williamsport Rd area across river – sampled nature books in my library & discussed possibilities of Terradise becoming a part of OHSM’s [OSUM] Nature Center Program. Tabor is not a demonstrative person but he was excited by the possibilities & confessed his first love is forestry.
