To see Dr. Lowe – about ache in left groin – feels like a muscle knotted. Had terrible leg cramp last night. I weigh 172 – blood pressure 120/70 – Only thing he could find was arthritis – got prescription for 10 Feldene capsules $11.00 my share after HMO. Also got quinine for leg cramps at night. He had no answer for my being tired.
Came home & went to bed. Hot except in my bedroom with air conditioner.
Dragged myself back to Marion. Supper at Rax & then to meeting to plan programs for Nature Club. Tabor Allison – Rick Bradley – professors at OSUM & Dan Frevort – manager at Killdeer Wildlife area.
After Tabor showed me the Prairie Office & gave me copy of list for Claridon Prairie compiled last year by graduate student. Told him about Clyde Jones dissertation on Marion Co. grasses in 1930’s – He will get a copy for me & for his files.
Spent several hours comparing new list of plants with one in Claridon Prairie Brochure – The student missed a few, but added some.

62-86 Sunny
Went to Warren Roberts estate auction. Saw so many people I don’t see much – Ron & Bonny Lyon – Retterers – Jake & family- Heritage Hall carpenters (told them I had been forbidden to talk to them!), Caroline & Georg Schram (W.R. was Caroline’s uncle.)
So much really old farm machinery. Tool still photos & video. – WR wrote his diary on a door – In 1971 he killed 6 owls. No wonder they disappeared from Terradise!
Bought a horse drawn moldboard plow for $65 – Boys from trailer park helped my unload it. Put it in flower bed under silky dogwood. Ralph Boger bought Huber revolving hay rake for $125 & plans to donate it to Heritage Hall.
Called Dr. Lowe for appointment. Left groin hurts so I can hardly climb steps or get in car.
All 4 of my still cameras had bad batteries – had to go to 4 stores before I found the lithium 6V & B-2 – Supper with Mary at Isaly’s – then to MCHS Board meeting. 2 hrs. Felt lousy. Lucy Wood resigned as secretary & Carroll Neidhart resigned as trustee. But he came to meeting – Cathay Fourman replaced Bob Rice who also resigned. Virginia Howard will replace Carroll.

Finished news releases on Prairie Tour. Stopped at Hutchman’s to leave Bioll a copy of DBY on 3 roads that inadvertently saved Claridon Prairie. Stayed for lunch – then Bill & I to Rt. 95 near Little Scioto crossing. FOund Kensel’s one Silene Regia just to right of asphalt crossing – but also found at least 25 more blooming stalks & as many not blooming – all of my cameras malfunctioned.
To HH to get check of Photo Archivist program but Norm hadn’t got word. Home about 5:30 after eating at Bob Evans with Mary. Too tired to go back in for EHMA Board meeting.
Group at HH was moving things out of lobby to less conspicuous areas.
Rive back in banks.
Call from Cleveland man who is writing book on Florence Kling Harding. Wanted pictures from Stewart Browne’s album. Told him I would see if we had made negatives of them.

Dropped my bombshell suggestions at Executive Committee meeting about keeping lobby. Jack forbade me to speak to carpenters – and accused me of underhandedly going to Preservation Office over his head. I explained that I had only spoken to Jeff Winstell with regard to effect proposed lobby modification (moving pediments, installing doors in lobby) would have on National Register Nomination.
I also asked that lobby be cleared of piano – display racks, etc. Looks junky & makes poor first impression.

Misty Raining
Richard Mosely, Jr. & Guy Denny of Dept of Natural Resources arrived from Cols shortly after David arrived from Cincinnati. First walked to E edge of Terradise & Dick spotted & identified lysamachia ciliata – Loosestrife – also found it across river. He also identified all my transplanted maple tress as black maple. Seedlings came from a tree formerly across road near where Martha Neville now lives.*
After walking to the wedge** had coffee in the kitchen & discussed possibilities for preserving Terradise. First step will be to apply for Ohio Natural Landmark Status which has no legal implications but alerts to uniqueness of area. Told them I would like to have it become part of OSUM’s Nature Center. They pointed out pitfalls & suggested a reverter clause (to my heirs) in case OSUM doesn’t keep it as Nature Center. They also were surprised that “Stew” hadn’t responded more positively to reiver being considered for Scenic designation. Also visited across river briefly.

To Cols for OAHSM Board meeting. Since I am not on any committees it seems a waste of time. Worked on judging entries in Awards Program (Publications) during committee meeting.
To Arveys to exchange carbon ribbob for multistrike – stopped at Al’s for supper on my way home.
