Wrote short history of Hemmerly’s Flowers for 75 years
Dropped it off at the shop and picked up my purse- Left it when I was there yesterday! Lisa Carlisle was late to the Resource Center. She came from the R&R auction of plants.
I spent 3 hours checking City directories for names and dates and wrote another page of Hemmerly’s history from 1996 when we moved to 615 East Center Street [sic – they moved in 1965]
Jim Carpenter was acting as docent and Heritage Hall had 15 visitors. He had been at the Celebrate Summer and antique car show on Center Street from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and offered to drive me and park near the action. Enjoyed talking to Jack Kellogg who has a 1930 Ford with a rumble seat much like Rayle Conyers that took Bernard and me to the senior dance in 1933.
Saw a 1925 Hudson like Uncle Miles Standish had.
Jim and I had a barbecue beef sandwich and Gale and Dan joined us. Talked to Carroll Neidhart at his exhibit and Jim Hill stopped to chat.
Took Jim Carpenter home and was home by 5:00. Reprise of ‘As Time Goes By’- my favorite TV show. Story of Jean and Lionel- Judy Dench and Alistair and Judy and Harry in London, England.
