MCHS 3
Got invasive plants out of bed south of patio – Then bath & typed out bio & outline of talk on Wildflowers for Marion Christian Women’s luncheon at Country Club – Only 10 minutes so dwelt on definition of wildflower – weed? – native plant – alien? – all in our perception of what’s right.
To HH – Willis Nye in hunting originals of pamp[hlet ‘Tractor in the Making’ – Called John Hickson to clue me in to his records but Huber pagers not in book – so couldn’t help him
12 Marion Area Counselling Center group popped in for a tour – Royce’s son among them. Then took half of group from Canton. Two groups wear me out.

Madge Book 4 hrs
Up at 5:30 & corrected M/S of Madge’s book from her copy. She came about 9:15 & dictated the caption for 14 pix – Also made several title pages with Arvey label program for her to choose from. She left just after Delmar Brewer arrived about 10:00. He used weed eater to mow front bank & trim under fences & around trees. Rototilled across road (again) weeds grew up from first time. Used Round-up on all walks & patio & around driveway $35 – He finished byt 1:30.
Rested a while – Met Marfy at Turroff’s for dinner before Board meeting.
Nothing exciting for a change. Over by 9:45 – Helen Kaufman didn’t make it back from trip to Mexico so Eula presided. Air conditioning installed in gift shop[ & Jackal wants to give contract ($10,000) to Wenigs for new electrical system, without other bids.

Madge 3 hrs
Worked on Madge’s ‘Selina Lily’ correcting from her proofing.
Met Mary at Wendys & to Denzer’s to pay respects to Carl Lehner – cancer for 4 yrs.
Then to Heritage Hall for EHMA Board meeting. Now considering a 20×70 pole barn building @ $105,000 – seems to me they need a layout study. How do you turn around a thresher or a maintainer – 25’ long in a 20’ building? Everyone pooh-poohed my suggestion to cut out scale models & place them in building.
Made copies of a 1963 Marion Star ‘Progress Election’ for Bob Swaderer. Had Huber Ad – Houghton Sulky Story & Fahey Bank ad.
Took M/S to Madge before meeting & picked it up after.

To HH to meet Dick West to go to Tiffin – Seneca Co. Museum to Thematic Exhibits Workshop. Very pertinent speakers & nice tour of museum, but no hands on experience that I thought would be included.
Dick born in Tiffin so I got a tour of his boyhood hangouts & related homesites. Home about 4 – Shopped at Meijer for coleus, celosa & snaps – cookies & prunes.

70-86 dropped to 60 in 20 minutes about 8 PM
MCHS 3 hrs
Gardened till I was worn out. Bath & to Al’s with 2 Marys.
Kensel & Opal Clutter over to finish up the Marion County See labels – took 2 hrs to get them like Kensel wanted them – he preferred 1 ¼ rather than 1 ½ but I told him they only came that close to his specs.
Add a few more species of prairie plants for a total of 90 from all lists for Marion Co.
Opal watched Kathi’s video on Utah. They had been on Burr Trail, Archwes, etc. so she enjoyed it.

Tricia Valentine & Bud Sawyer of Local History Office here supposedly to plan Brass Tacks workshop on computers. But Bud had it all outlines – But discussion (held on Beech Deck) took all morning. Swerved them quiches for lunch & then to computer room to ‘hands on’. Tricia counseled that we not get too technical. She left about 2:00 &* Bud about 3:30.
