Finished tour brochure while watching two pair wood ducks on pond surrounded by 6 in of snow. Forsythia just starting to bloom- is weighted down.
Took tour brochure into Center to finish after reducing some of the material on shop copier. Had to call Ruth Mosher for the layout map as my only copy is at printers. Supper at Isaly’s and shopped at Big Bear and got gas at Bonded. Should have stopped in the snow storm last night it was 79 cents a gallon then and today had gone up to 85 cents.

Gorgeous day temperature 75°- got mower out and ran over mole runs and mowed some leaves down in woods. So dry in areas that toads usually appear in that I mowed across them. Too bad David didn’t come up. Dave called me. He and Oleta broke up two weeks ago. New girlfriend is Michelle from Philadelphia.
Called Kristi- she has received two appointments to the Naval Academy! From both Nevada senators. Only 8% applying get appointed but she will probably take the Air Force. Called Mary at Vivian’s.

Saturday, March 28, 1987 Regional meeting Carrollton.
Up at 6:00 at 5:45 and left in a fog at 6:45 for Carrollton for Region 4 meeting. Mis-read map and went south on Route 43 from Carrollton and had to cut across country to get to Algonquin Mill by 9:30. About 40 there from 10 or so historical societies. Met Johan Ka____ who was a German prisoner of war in Russia escaped and walked 500 miles across Carpathian Mountains to home in East Germany, but his town had been destroyed. Been in USA 25 years he gave me a Tuscarawas County Bicentennial medal he designed after I spoke on celebrating the bicentennial. East Liverpool lady gave me good ideas from their plans. Home through Dover- never again- here about 6:00.

Worked on index and had it finished by noon. Then realized it didn’t have the part III in the index so added it and started over. Had ready to print it out at 3:15 but it took until 4:30. Dashed into Marion Post Office and got there just before 5:00. Sent index by express mail- my part is done!
To MCHS program meeting at OSUM at 7:00. Hal Boncutter didn’t show up- learned later he was in Florida. Oliver Hamilton gave marvelous talk on Marion County quarries.

Mary left for St Pete to visit Vivian and David Bratton
working on index.
Scilla and large crocus join species crocus, cilla, winter aconite, anemone Iris reticulata all blooming.
Working on index. On way to Center stopped and picked up a 1906 long Marion postcard from 135 North Greenwood.

To Center and started copying the 1895 Marion Star with histories of all Marion Industries- businesses- law etc. for Herb Gary. But Dave Brown came in and monopolized time. Northwest Ordinance and US Constitution has no connection to Marion, numbers on Scioto Ordinance Plant map for fuze lines are wrong etc. Herb came in but no time for him. To supper with Mary and Helen Romine at Teresa’s new restaurant. Terry Firstenburger Italian- food good.
