Left here at 8:00 and took Northwest Ordinance book to OSU- Ted Myers. To Mary’s and loaded my two bags into her trunk. Dropped geraniums off at Marion Historical Center and off we went at about 9:00 headed for St Louis.
We took $1,000 from the rental account proceeds of 229 East Fairground so we’re enjoying this trip on mother and daddy.

In St Louis about 4:00 and stopped along the Mississippi near the arch. Ate at Riverboat Burger King. Couldn’t visit Botanical Garden because of a meeting. Knights Inn in West St. Louis.

Burroughs Club here
Huber committee meeting A.M. at courthouse. Confusion on role of Economic Development Committee in hiring consulting firm for Industrial Development named for Huber near airport.

Guests for Burroughs’ picnic arrived just as I got home. Rainy day so they had an excuse not to go out. But I gave them a letter saying this was my last hosting of their picnic after 32 years and too many new members- I don’t enjoy it.

Mary and I to Lima where I spoke to Allen County Genealogical Society on “Serendipity in Genealogy”- introduced by Don Baker- cousin. Gave my [sic] $35 check and seemed to enjoy my experiences- much head nodding in agreement.

Stopped at Zimmerman’s on way home and took them to Colonel Sanders Chicken House for dinner but Madge treated. She doesn’t speak to Gayle because Faye Irene left her share of the house to Madge’s daughter and not to her!

Watered plants 78° sunny
Spent morning sorting papers MCHS- Huber Committee- Bicentennial Committee- “After 40 Years”- newsletter- personal. Called Norm Glanz (printer) to see what he had found out from Steve White. Told me Steve admitted he had lied when he told him MCHS had not paid for the books. Steve had paid Glanz only $500 and spent the rest. Mr. Glanz said he was at fault in not checking more closely on Steve’s payments. They charged Steve $8,000 not the $9,100 he told me.

To Bicentennial Committee at 4:00. Ray Switzer there and sent no report on July 12th Muster Day. Joan Radwin said Marion Star will print the July 10th 1844 Buckeye Eagle for distribution. Spirit of ’76 Awards being judged tonight so I took judge Charles Myers’ entry back in for them.

Susannah up with David. Goes to bathroom now.
Not much sleep at the Baker’s in same bed with Mary. Had never been in their upstairs before. Jesse came for breakfast at 8:00 and then we cut rhubarb. We drove through Killdeer on way home and saw many geese with goslings. Stopped at Trillium Woods.

At Mary’s to pick up my car and message on her answering machine that David was at shop. I didn’t realize he was coming up for a board meeting. To lunch with Kass at Ike’s diner. Terrible service. Discussed insurance and other benefits and new computer program Kass wants to buy for $15,000 to $20,000 with $1,000 a month maintenance. Then David told her the program we have will do the same thing and that’s what he does. She is sore at him because he got angry because no one will learn the program we have.
