Breakfast on deck with Karen and kids while David went into shop to take new accounts payable program and look over the new computer system for AR. Left for Lake Erie East Harbor about 11:30. Gorgeous day low humidity – about 85. Got picnic stuff at IGA and ate at table facing lake- could see clear to Pelee Island. Kids playing in sand bar. Water temperature 78°. I finally succumbed and put on my suit. Steep cement embankment for erosion not easy to navigate but enjoyed swimming. Got pizza in Caledonia but I went to MCHS board meeting without eating. Home at 9:30 Josh had mowed.

Sorted and cleaned house. Mowed for about 2 hours. Place looks nice and David couldn’t say enough nice things when they arrived about 7:30. Had stopped at McKinley Park to see Walt and Olgua.

Mary and George and June Ulle came about 5:00. Ulle’s just in from Reading PA for 3-day visit. Cooked inside but ate on deck. Susannah modleled at State Fair three outfits- fourth on nightwear. David showed us videos of the style show.
Pete Belt delivered my new white old’s Cutlass cruiser. Wrote him a $7,000 check and he drove off in my Cutlass Ciera.

Met Mary at 3:00 at LK Convention Center for Bill and Erma Hutchman’s 50th wedding celebration. Table of wedding gifts and photo book interesting. Erma did many of the table arrangements and lots of neat touches. Between reception and dinner I went to borrow station wagon but it was out so loaded my picnic benches into the Ford Astro van. First time I drove it. Back to family dinner at 6:00. Ed good as master of ceremonies. whole family there except Ann’s husband Kelly. Helped haul cake and flowers over to house. Met Duane Lockwood- Erma’s cousin. Home by dark.

Called Boston company and transferred money market funds to cash management fund. To Savings of America where Kristi’s CD was due. I am borrowing that $1,600 until September and then we’ll reinvest $2,000 in a money manager for her- now paying 10% Plus.
Called Pete Belt and told him to deliver wagon Monday- the one in Warren not available so we’ll take their white demonstrator with electric windows added for $7,000.

Mary out and 12:30 and we headed up Route 4 to Lorain to tour the frigate USS Oliver Hazard Perry FFG7. Lake area beautiful along Route 2. Had to wait nearly 2 hours among the 5,000 who toured the Perry from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saw only the two open decks and wheelhouse. Dinner at Vermilion at Elberta’s- Lake Erie perch delicious. Bought peaches and home via 395 [sic – proabably 598] into Galion. Surprisingly hilly. Home about 8:00. called on answering machine from Pete belt as light blue olds wagon with everything. wanted me to pay $7,600 plus my car. I offered $7,000 because I don’t want third seat.

Wrote to Dave and Kristi. Letter from Kathy with copy of Kristi’s last letter.

To Marion County Republican Women’s Club luncheon at noon to speak on Marion’s celebration of Bicentennial of Northwest Ordinance and U.S. Constitution.

To C&D Chevrolet & Olds in Mount Gilead to see Cutlass Cruiser that Pete Belt called me about. 6 cylinder- sure quieter and peppier than the 4 cylinder in my Ciera but no electric windows or seats and a demo so offered to look for one at same price $7,000 with my car.

Saw news report on frigate Perry at Lorain this week. Called Mary and we’ll go tomorrow.
