To Carl Lehner’s sale about 9:30. Huber committee handling food concession but I didn’t work. Cold and Mrs. Clutter loaned me scarf for my head. Huber committee bought lots for Museum including a case to show them in. I bought about 20 Claridon annuals for $7, 3 Indian musical instruments of hide, balalaika from Russia, old radio tubes, 3 Marion tape measures, Etc. Spent $32 then into shop to copy my Christmas letter using Holly border two-sided.

Had letter from Dave when I got home describing his damage control duties. Written November 21st and postmarked November 27th. He will be in Perth, Australia on December 9th.

Friday, December 4, 1987
Finished Christmas letter. In at 1:15 for another fitting of lower partial plate. To Center to encapsulate November 1942 Marion County Review from Glen Robinson. Made door swag from Kathi’s evergreen, David’s holly and my expertise and hung on front door of Center.

Shopped at New Dimensions for Kathi and David- $75! Shopped at Meijer’s- cookies for Howard- candy etc for Dave, crossword book for Howard. Grocery shopped at Big Bear.

Pete Belt picked up my wagon am for service. I used his loaner to go to Marion. When he returned mine about 6:00 he told me Howard Koehler’s house at Williamsport and 746 was burning to the ground. Not able to save anything.

1 inch of snow temperature 30°
Conference at 10:00 with Mike Steen and the four designers who will have to fight out who gets the job of designing the Marion bank. I suggested 2 old time tellers copes with open spaces between rather than solid 1900 look. To Quest Club and all seemed glad to see me. Turned in 1250 volunteer hours for the year, and that was low. To Styling Salon for wash, cut and set $11. Picked up Mary and we went shopping, Got green jersey wool $20 marked down from $40 and a red skirt $38 marked down from $54.
Call from Charlie Evers when I got home that County Commissioners gave MCHS $5,000. Also calls from Willis Nye and David.

Took Howard to Reece’s Market in Caledonia and deposited the $1,000 check he gave me.
Claire Oberst from Lutheran Memorial Camp at Fulton over with her plans to plant a prairie there. She has done her homework well. I gave her most of the seeds I had collected and then took her to the Claridon and OSUM prairies.
Wrote autobiography for Beth Langer for Local Historian and my first draft of Christmas letter. Mailed 21 invitations to my Christmas Sing on Friday December 11th. About half inch of snow stayed on the ground all day. Jim Wening called about his museum- mailed him membership application from OAHSM.

To Columbus at 8:30 for conference with Kris Runberg head of local history office in local history office. Full morning discussing new Regional Rep to appoint, agenda for January 11th meeting. Both of our agendas had same items! Kris and I met Jane Truggles at 12:45 at Worthington Inn for lunch and after it she gave us a tour of the building. Then to Worthington Historical Society (rectory) nearby for conference on code of regulations.
Nneeds drastic revising.
Planned to shop but not finished until 4:00- weather was slushy and I was tired so came home.
