Sunday, July 4, 1954
Another day lost! Lousy. Did make 2 cyanide jars* new – that’s it. Trella wedding – till 3:30 or so. I got a bath about 8 – most of day in bed or slumped.

[*Ray used mason jars with cyanide covered in cardboard disk to kill butterflies & moths he caught]

Saturday, July 3, 1954
Cooler, small rain p.m. Felt much bedtter. Even pencilled a cartoon, & worked on scrapbooks photo album, catching both up-to-date. Dad ‘n Paris here p.m. Trella worked watering a.m; on back terracies tonite, planting, etc.

Friday, July 2, 1954
Hotter. Worst day I’ve had? Lousy. Ray Hemmerly worked here till 2. Williams here tonite – & Sandy & Vivian Adams & Rockwells.

Thursday, July 1, 1954
Hot. Felt good a.m. – scrapbooked, etc. but passed out p.m. Trella “housecleaned” bathroom, & in for wedding appointment tonite.

Wednesday, June 30, 1954
Hot. Trella in, digging iris. I soaked “orders” in biche [sic] mercury – my “job” for the day. Worked stamps, bugs, pomes. Slept lousy b/4 supper, better after. Bugged lights tonite.*

[*Ray caught lots of moths for his lepidoptera collection by baiting outdoor lights and collecting at night]

Tuesday, June 29, 1954
In to exchange Walker book (Hall-Beck) – get stamps, see sheriff about trash dumping & helped Trella label Irises- she & Sonny worked most o’ day on it. Napped p.m. Paris, Dad, Sandy here tonite (Mary Jordan & Nancy a minute, too) picture-showing, etc.

Monday, June 28, 1954
Felt some better! Sickled weeds, dug a few irises, pained lard can!! (slept some too!) Trella & kids in tonite.

Sunday, June 27, 1954
Sandy out a.m. George Stafford, Mr. Field (Claridon), Bill & Erma Hutchman, all p.m. I hugged a little!! Trella had her relation* for picnic – I bedded. She did lge wedding till 4:30 (?)

[*Trella added later – Uncle Allen & Uncle Meck Sheneman – Ivaloo’s brothers]

Saturday, June 26, 1954
Paris here all day – helpin’. Painted steps, build compost heap, etc. etc. Trella in p.m. to work on big Judy Reichenstein wedding (Home 9:50 Me, no good yet – flopped.
