Saturday, May 16, 1953
Back work. ($148.34) Rain most of day and evening. To Westwood, after carrying trip, for lunch. Dubbed basement here, stakes for Irises. Wrote Eff & Clara; Trella sold wedding.

Thursday, May 14, 1953
Cool & rainy. Paris & I to Westwood for quick lunch & look- dug some plants. Evening to Acres at 4 to pick places for electric outlets. House getting partitions for rooms, attic floor, disappering stairs. To Palace tonite! Just Trella & I. 3 months today.

Wednesday, May 13, 1953
Cooler. Rain, too, some little. Ray Hemmerly changed to 12×16 house, he giving us the difference if we pay for entire foundation!! ($288) Home for lunch, Cussins & Fern again, belt still wrong; helped lay at greenhouse, a bit. Mushrooms for supper; Trella & I to Acres – windows in! Some ‘o attic floored. We groceried, she had wedding appointment.

Tuesday, May 12, 1953
Still warm. Paid $5000 (house under roof) tonite to Jim. Ordered greenhouse (10×12 – $320 [see tomorrow])
Trella’s folks here tonite. Poured at noon.

Monday, May 11, 1953
4 hrs sleep (wouldn’t go to sleep) Warm & nice. Ray Hemmerly & Trella had tractor workin’ & I dubbed with it tonite, after we checked on siding for shack at Superior Roofing Company. To Michaels’ about fireplace, at Acres & Ralph’s plowing our strip! Helped Trella with wedding, 1st in ages. After, pooped.

Sunday, May 10, 1953
(Mother’s Day) Hot! I Westwooded early, digging plants, etc; washed 552 windows outside. P.M. to Acres- Carl Jordan, Bill Hutchman & I really burned brush! (Women too) Nice picnic lunch- both our folks out after, home about 9:45

Saturday, May 9, 1953
Swell day. Spent it mo. at Westwood- trimming, cutting, etc (cleaned good too). Lunch there. Supper with Sandy- Outside Inn – & drove Acres. Shingles going on! Tried start new Tractor tonite, bath & home. Trella done at 9??

Friday, May 8, 1953
Weekend off- mostly fair, got tractor & cult. am. went to wood, lunch, mowed some ‘o lawn; Dad, Teeter & I mushrooming-saw Acrews, etc. Back Westwood awhile tonite- headache, home, bath, bed. Trella tied up with Mother’s Day.

Thursday, May 7, 1953
Cloudy; rain towards 3:30 – but hard. We, Ray Hemmerly, Trella & I bought a Simplicity 5 HP tractor & attachments at noon, Ray financing deal!!
Tonite, finished mowing this lawn (in rain); ate here alone (Trella & Kathy to Bucyrus, feed & speech); visited Dad ‘n Cora long visit, took Sandra Jean = & Trella = lilacs from 954.

Wednesday, May 6, 1953
Cloudy but warm. Noon, we went Acres; tonite, picked shingles with Bill Hutchman, shopped Cussins & Fern for tractor; then supped here & tore [sic?] Acres again; brush cutting & planting til dark. House with part of roof on! Looks like a house.
