Paris out to stay with Ray while I went in to do wedding. He took Chevy in to get it in running order.

Went in at 1:00 & took copy to Edna Dytton at Star – to bank, Carrolls*, Shop, Anthonys**. Home at 4:00. Kathy stayed with Ray.

Worked all morning getting copy read for story about Ray & Herm in the Star. Dad & Paris brought a box commode out for Ray to use in his room.

Gave Ray an enema & he really had a time all morning back and forth to the bathroom.

Monday, August 9, 1954

I worked on side walk all day. It slanted too much & some of the bricks were frost broken. Ray a little weaker each day. Dad Romine, Paris, Helen & MargaretAnne out. Checked all poems in that had accumulated. They are down to 83.

Sunday, August 8, 1954

Gave Ray bath before I went in to do wedding. Hutchmans & Jim Weaver here in P.M. – rained a drizzle. Daddy & Mother came out to fix toilet but I had it fixed & didn’t know it.

Saturday, August 7, 1954

Picked first ripe iris pods – did some weeding in iris garden. Called Dr. Axthelm to come over – Ray too weak to go in. Has some swelling on his neck. Gave his pills for throat & prescription 1/2 gr morphine.
Hazel Chase & John Gill over.
I went in in evening to start screwy Barberton wedding – phoned over.

Beautiful day- cool & sunny. Do with Ray could see it blooming. Put our phone in at 12:45. No. 2041 – I went in town for 2 wedding appts. Got Thormazine [sic – Thorazine?] prescription from Morrison. Daddy & Mother went to camp to get Kathy. They & Mary & Rocky out for pictures. Sandy, Dad, Paris here. Had Kathy birthday cake.

Mary & Rocky out in evening with letter from Forrest. Not coming. Ray about same but I helped him bathe. He’s eating eggnogs only.
