Sunday, May 16, 1954
Bill & Erma Hutchman hand-plowed Iris patch, cleaned up & swept kitchen, & then went home & baked a cake which Trella picked up on way home from wedding. Uncle Frank & family here p.m., Williams & Prichards too. Paris & Helen tonite for a minute. Trella & I got some [shorthand] done. I Irised earlier?

Saturday, May 15, 1954
Some day! Looked around some a.m. (Webb’s* here); went in with Trella after lunch, & renewed labels at Hartford Street & weeded hr. or so! Rogers & Shaw visited me at 229 later. Got Chev & drove it home, seeing Paris, Dad ‘n Cora. Called Sandra Jean. Bath in tub tonite! Haved gained total 5# – 143 now!

Friday, May 14, 1954
Whew! What a “day” – for me! Bathed self, & we took off – haircut (6 weeks?) – Trella got stamps & Iris tags meanwhile – & we weeded & looked at Hartford St. Irises! Lotsa buds. Stopped Hemmerly’s, I weeded & played in Irises here most of p.m.! Trella BAD headache. PARIS & HELEN HERE A MINUTE 9.

Thursday, May 13, 1954
M. Snider here a.m. Out to Dr. Axthelm’s p.m., then puttered among Irises quite a spell (Trella says I was up total of 2 1/2 hrs)!! Ate good. Henry Nickel, Rockwells, Paris & Helen here evening. (My back hurts – no wonder??)

Wednesday, May 12, 1954
Whee! Actually out weeding(?) in Iris patch awhile p.m.! (Out total about 1 1/4 hrs) And typed some after, too. Part of p.m. on chaise lounge in living room. Trella had talk tonite- David & I along. Ray, bless him mowed grass evening for us.

Tuesday, May 11, 1954
Still cold out. Gas pains (?) bothered me all day, till I took pill evening & enjoyed tail end of Sany & Paris’ visit. Ray Hemmerly brought me new chaise lounge! & a “bed-sitter-upper” thing! Trella in awhile – conversed with Dr. Kapcar lengthily.

Some little improvement, me – think. Ate well, got up some more, less pain. Dad ‘n Paris ‘n Sandy all here one car tonite – & Ray Hemmerly. Kathy to party.

Cold, rainy. Vivian, Mary & Rocky here 10-10:30 feeding me. Trella worked 9-3. Headache after, she. Hemmerly’s here after supper. Backache terrific at times!

Back “[illegible looks like mvest]” some better. Vivian took good care o’ me. Trella workin’ all day. Hazel Chase and John Gill here p.m. – nice visit. Tonite, Paris & Shran [?] here – they & Trella took me Axthelm’s. Rocky made special trip to make bed harder – thanks!
