Up at 7:00 & to WMRN studio 8:05 – for tribute to Madge hosted by Scott Spears, Jo Ione, Karen Reams &David ? – the other participants I gave story of Madge encouraging Charlton Myers to do “Salt Rock Twp Historical & Marching Society” that led to MCHS organization & her talk about her mother – improve it. Man in attic about insulation.
Home & worked on 1977 Chronology Back to HH at 1:00 – used city directory to verify homes of Ray & Ivaloo [parents].
Jim C there & told him about stuff int he eaves of the attic to be moved & he will help – Left at 3:00 – Shopped Meijer – Ate & TV.

Entered more details to Chronology until going to Dr. Filmore Riego’s office for yearly eye checkup. Left eye needs a new prescription to help sight. To McDaniel Motors Toyota to have air pressure in tires adjusted for winter driving. The caution light doesn’t go off until one drives a few miles. Wrote a tribute to Madge Guthery & sent to David & Gale. Focused on her hosting Charlton Myers “Salt Rock Township Historical & Marching Society” on WMRN & that led to formation of MCHS Society due to David. Also made a list of my contacts for WMRN 5:10 program tomorrow.

Royce cleaning while David & I were at Madge Guthery’s funeral & lunch at Community Church on Richland Road. He loaded old TV in his car & recyclables in my car & we left them at Sims Brothers.
Service for Madge included 2 hymns but no sacred by name or Jesus references, mostly tributes to her & reminiscences. Only MCHS people I saw were the Telfers, Jack & Glada Bull & Gale who sat with us.
Back home & David drained garden hose out & stored it. He called “Improve It!” & cancelled estimate for attic insulation since I have eye appt at 1:15 tomorrow.
Expanded the notes I had made in chronologyt o include remembrances – E-mailed Kathi for dates of her 2 marriages to Bob. She sent them & lots more.
Sent kids email to tell them I had more than Madge did because I had them.
Enjoyed This Old House on the new wide TV.

Made changes to agreement with Moshers that board requested. Give them 5 books and $250 in royalties. Took it & copy of “After 40 years” toHartman Printing in Mt. Gilead. Chat with Steve while waiting for Karen. Can deliver books by Dec 11 – Steve told me I could renew car license at Mt. Gilead offices on the square – no wait! $65.
Stopped at Kroger & bought pink azalea plant & a card for Dave Matyak birthday – $10.20 He has gazanias & tea roses blooming & geraniums outdoors. As I left he gave me a hug and a kiss!
Home & since no sleep after 4 AM I took a nap until David arrived about 2:30. He had computer conference with several clients – Set up my new 32″ Panasonic TV (on small table in front of cabinet).
To Marion – picked up chain saw – sharpening $5.
To Boyd-Born Funeral Home – Madge looked like she did 20 years ago – Conversations with Lurlene Early – Scott Spears & Cooper of Hamilton – Madge’s nephew. He wants me (and Gale) to come to Madge’s house to choose items for MCHS.
To Meijer for gas – 42 MPG $2.60 gal – To Radio Shack for connections – Baked a pizza &had ice cream with it. TV is amazing. Things are 3 dimensional & wide screen.

Madge Guthery photo & news story & obit of her death – Marion Star
Finished 1989 chronology.
Got e-mail from David that he would be up about 1:30 & by 6:00 to play in Columbus with V. Wiester’s Jazz band.
To Marion. Visited John Cottrill & took extra minutes, reports & board members of HTET. He kept the records for the first 20 yrs& so pleased to have info – Daughter Marilyn visiting him.
To Dr. Cloran for cleaning teeth. Home to meet David who rescued tractor & mowed upper lawn, Took measurements for newTV – Will have to modify cabinet to hold high definition set. To Servex & Gary Sens sold us 60″ set $650 with tax.
To Bob Evans & Gale & joined us for supper. Library gets 15% of take tonight.
Gale suggests Wyandot Popcorn Museum pay 20% of her salary for the time she spends on their customores.
Home by 6:15 & Gale unloaded TV. Dave will install on a shelf in cabinet Thursday – So a few more nights of TV on small set in my bedroom.

Took mower to upper lawn to mow leaves and on first round got it stuck on protruding root of white pine.

News story on TV – Dam in Olympic Natl Park dynamited to allow salmon to swim upriver to spawn.

E-mail from Scott Spears to tell me of death early this morning of Madge Guthery at Marion Manor. She had been there for a year or more after a broken hip – age 99.
Letter from Eugene Sheneman. He is 94 & has recovered from a broken hip.
Jim C here from 9:30 to 11:30 – Dug mums, plants & potted some to winter in greenhouse – Cleaned leaves from side entrance area. To HH at 1:00. Did inventory of book sales in gift shop since March. Not many sales.
Call from Charlie McCarthy – into something but will contact us in Dec. about historic marker for site of Scioto Ordinance Plant.
Shopped at Aldi $45 – TV & supper in bedroom.
Ohio State beat Iowa in overtime with a field goal, 27-24 – So to Rose Bowl – First time in 14 years.
