To HH at 8:30 for Marion Leadership group – 20 potential leaders – this was 1st of 6 meetings for them. I spoke on Marion Co. History & how national events affected us – Dick West, Jack Telfer followed me but I didn’t wait to hear what they said.

Carl Jordan’s funeral at Boyds – Herschel Roper, Dr. Ginn both captured the spirit of Carl’s quiet life. He had memorized all of Chapter 11 – Hebrews – on faith.
Buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery out near where Gladys & Neva live & where Mary grew up.
Back to church for dinner served by a circle – Tlked to Barbara (Jordan) & Ed Granger – among others.
Back in for Board meeting at 7:00 – Only about 15 there. Jack still ramming ‘The Harding Altar’ down our throats. I protested.
(Judge Myers against it, too)

Mary & I called at Boyd’s Funeral Home for Carl Jordan. Mostly Marilee’s family there. Know all of them were thinking of her death. Took a silk monument saddle of yellow mums from Mary, me & Kathi & David and families.

Call from Mary Jordan early. Carl died at 6:00 AM – Mary & I went down about 3 – Took a Kroger raspberry pie. Then we went out to dinner.
He had a painful death as uremic poisoning ravaged him. Had been in Community Nursing Center after being in hospital several days. But when Mary found him tied down & bed soaked she brought him home & family helped her. He refused an operation to alleviate pain. Was 88.

Just sat – recovering from last 8 days of continuous activity.
Chrysanthemums are gorgeous – one plant wouldn’t fit in a bushel basket.
