To Baker Middle School for Marion Education Association Community Leaders Day. Served school lunch of chili, cornbread & apple Betty – good. Felt out of my league when we went to Pearl Street School and Punch Walker of Fairfield Engineering & Mr. Sims – both top executives. Carol Cameron’’s 5th grade had done an oral history interview project & had a printed copy to give me.

54 early – 31 night
MCHS 8 hrs
Met Robert Boger at HH at 9:30 with the labels to change pg 290 of 1979 MC History from Dorothy & Ralph Boger to Dorothy & Robert Boger – Had 108 books yet & took us about 2 hrs to get it done. Lots of lifting.
Made copies of story on Aunt Ruth & Uncle Allen’s 75th wedding anniversary. Helen sent it from the Orange Co (Calf) Register.
At 12:30 picked up Willis and Wanda Nye & to Ponderosa on Rt. 95 for lunch – their treat. The Salad Bar was very good – Lots of hot dishes too. Then at 2:00 to Mary Evelyn Priors. She had called me saying she would give her furniture & other items top the MCHS & wanted me to comek see what we wanted. I only know her through articles she wrote to the Star editor for years – very outspoken, but not radical. Enjoyed meeting her, but I was still woozy from being sick. She served me tea at 4:00 PM but kept talking until nearly 7:00. I asked her if she would help me with research. She seemed hungry to talk. She has 4 cats. Luies. Corner of Lake & Waples.
Message from David when I got home. He had brick certificate program ready to send up by modem. Took about 45 minutes. I printed out a sample & it looks good.

OAHSM 7 ½ hrs
100 miles
Left at 9 for Cols & at Ashley tried to cross country to Rt. 36 & I-17 – But ran into a blocked road so ended up losing about 10 minutes instead of gaining 5. Board meeting of the Ohio Newspaper Project with interesting reports of experiences & hunting down collections of newspapers. They have covered all of Ohio except Franklin Co. & are applying for a grant to microfilm those not already filmed. Asked about value of indexing newspapers & was encouraged to do it. State Library librarian offered to send info & the program used by Cols Metro Library. Showed us the microfilm process. 4 people handle it. Stopped at Local History Office & Preservation Office. Martha Raymond who took Judith Kitchen’s place not in so couldn’t talk about Jack t’s plan for walls in HH Lobby.
To Arvey’s & got paper & envelopes for mailing brick certificates – pens for me. Home about 4:30 & found the short cut from Rt. 36 to Rt. 42.
Call from Rob Rupp – He’s sending application for his grant for me to sign & return for more info on writing program to print Brick certificate.
Helen Rosener sent article from Register.

MCHS 6 hrs
Spent morning cleaning up & sorting out the best begonias & succulents to take to HH for C’Mas Bazaar. I also got more magazines down from attic. Decided to sell my collections of C’mas issues.
In about 2:00 & found my spot was to be in lobby behind vestibule – And the table set up was the low one I’ve been trying to get out tof the archives room ever since it was put there when the newspaper collection was moved in.
Then down to Mary Jordan’s to pick up her last 6 bags of leaves. Just got home & the leaves dumped when they (Mary H & Mary J) came to pick me up to go to Al’s for dinner. We all had chicken & noodles & plenty to bring home.
Called Kathi & also talked to Kristi. Kathy & Bob traded their Honda on a new Toyota Camry – The Hone was too low – they just got it in June!

Thanksgiving
MCHS Trella 1 hr
David 2 hrs.
In to Mary’s at 8. Picked up a centerpiece to take to Haldeman’s. When we got there, David was at office so Mary & I went over & he worked on the program to print certificates for all who have purchased bricks.
Back to 6404 Coffey at `1:30 for a fabulous Thanksgiving Dinner. (which Susannah insisted was lunch). Clam chowder, Rast Turkey, pork loin roast, mashed potatoes, 2 kinds of stuffing, fruit bread, sweet potato & pecans, broccoli, brussels sprouts & cauliflower. 2 kinds of cranberry sauce, pumpkin & mince pies. All delicious. Boy’s room re-arranged & more open space. Jed was entering notes of a piece & then the Commodore computer played it back! Left about 4:30 & home by 8:00. 6 hrs driving – 6 hrs visiting & eating.
Jed played (poorly, I thought) his new (old) French Horn that I gave him $1,000 for. They had to pay $850 so that gave the family $150 for the cleanup work they did at Terradise on Nov 10 – David & Josh had a session with their trombones. Interesting to see how easily he teaches.
