Took a cab to DAR Library as it was a mile to walk. Laureen, Linda Spohr from Findlay and Margareta Warren from Medina. Found Samuel P. Hildreth’s book “The Hildreth Family”- told of his trip from Massachusetts to Ohio and 1807 and a trip back by canal and railroad in 1839. Looked at Romine books again. Just a jumble of information. Checked applications for Benoni Hurlbut- a mass of wrong information. At 4:00 walked over to mall to Vietnam memorial and Lincoln memorial. Taxi back to hotel and rested. Dinner at kitchenaria and walked to National archives. Looked at 1829 passenger lists- no luck.

To National Gallery of Art for lunch and ate by the Cascade of water. Audubon’s elephant folio prints on display- colors gorgeous- my prints are so faded compared to these. Back to Old Post Office for supper had a chimichanga. Feet hurt- wore shoes not made for walking. Tour of National Archives 50th anniversary displays saw Richard Byrd’s Diaries.

Cleaned piles of papers in my room- filing, etc. and hunting genealogy material to take on trip. At 12:00 noon took Dave to Mary’s to mow and I went to historical center. Norman Fogt and I washed down wall where Courthouse books had been piled, encapsulated bonds and planted Hosta and vinca in front beds.

Ran errands- film to Cliff Mitchell- cookies at Revco- bank rent check- met Heckers and Dave at Sisters Chicken. Then grocery shopped. Home to wash clothes and pack. Kathi called to wish a good trip.
