Call from Carroll Elsey wakened me. Wanted to talk so met him at shop- He’s contemplating suicide but Phil Boyd told him to find someone to love – So he picked me! – Told him I didn’t have time in my life for complications just as David walked in – Karen had visit to Dr. Davidorf in Columbus, her good eye is showing streaks. Will go in for freezing surgey tomorrow AM. They had Susannah – all smiles & blue grey eyes. We went to Gladies for lunch & to Guys & Dolls for gifts for all kids. When I called to see if my car was ready (took it in at 11:00) – no one had worked on it all day. Had it in for shock absorbers. When I god home Barb Cornwall called – I forgot to go to Eastlawn Manor to help her with Birthday Party.

Mary called before leaving on their trip – Walt in hospital in Phoenix – lungs filled up. Condition stable but critical.

Norma did payroll on computer & was delighted with its ability to figure the hours (a feature Cheryl refused to use) – and now we know it’s accurate. David taught her the A/P program & check writing and she ate it up.

His letter to Kathi was a model of diplomacy – But he was glad I told her off in mine.

Mary Jo Baker, Corinne McAfee & Maxine Marshall in at 7:00 to learn to put cemetery data into computer. Barb Midlam brought over 6 townships for us to work on.

Dave in town with me & we bought him a camoflage jacket $60! David back to Cinci at 9:30. Left there at 6 AM.

Dreamed Hemmerly’s Flowers had moved to the courthouse & we couldn’t find anything. Really was the mess that Kathi assumed in her letters. I had written her after talking to David explaining our side & trying to make her see that Cheryl was using her as a pawn to get even with us for firing her. I finally called Kathi & read it to her but all she could say was how poor the morale at Hemmerly’s is — Phooey. My heart is broken but Dave was very consoling. He has learned to accept rejection from his mother so I guess I can too. Mary & Ken out with cactus & Mary thinks I take things too hard. Answered letters. Dave shot sling shot & went across river on ice.

Took Dave & Chris Opp to Depot Sales for school on Cross Country skiing – went to shop to work on payroll schedule but David had changed the password & I couldn’t get into the program for information. Mary & Ken came by to copy her itinerary & we went to Jordan’s to see Carl who fell on ice.

Picked boys up at 3:30. Mail had letter from Uncle Allen on Bickels, Gayle Zimmerman on Barbara Marg. Hemmerly Felty descendants, Leota on Region 2 meeting in April, & letter from Kathi siding with Cheryl & blaming David & me for her “devastation.” David called later & his letter from Kathi ripped him apart for low morale at Hemmerly’s.

Royce to clean at 7:00 as she had an appointment at 12:30 for job at QuickCheck – Couldn’t believe it when she asked me to fix her lunch before she left.

In to shop at 1:00 to meet Barb & Jim Midlam to confer on publishing their cemetery records. They have about 10,000 records from 114 Marion Co. cemeteries.

Talked to David later & it is no problem to enter the data using DbaseII & then reformat it the way Midlams want it.*

*[Tombstone Inscriptions of Marion County, Ohio was published in 1985 by the Marion Area Genealogical Society. The records can be found online at cemeteryindex.com]

To Upper Sandusky with Mary Heininger after leaving wagon at Inskeep for checkup. Mary never had researched & was amazed at finding marriage, birth & death records. Also found grandfather estate settlement. I copied all Hemmerly records – Maybe I’ll get that book written yet.*

*[She did in 1997 – published the Hemmerly Genealogy – The Descendants of Johan Conrad & Margaret Elizabeth Siegler Hemmerly]
