Warm partly cloudy 76 rain evening
In to shop at 8:30 and routed with Terry Zacharias getting up the routes. New people at the shop- Barbara Meddles, designer- Cheryl ?- Cash & Carry, Kevin ?- delivery. George the sourpuss delivering again. Nell in to call out orders. Everything smooth and plenty busy. Home at 1:30 to check on workmen as I didn’t like the way they had steps to lower area. But left them a note and they fixed it.

Picked Dave up at school. Shopped for $20 to feed gang. Routed five deliveries for tomorrow a.m. Saw yellow-throated vireo, yellow warbler and red start.

Sunny 68 gorgeous. Tree swallows, Catbird, little green heron.

John Foster called saying Courthouse Centennial committee meeting postponed until tomorrow so I spent the whole day outdoors. Set Sabin Juniper from back bank in bed by side door. Dug out boxwood that didn’t winter. Edged beds in front of fence of riverbank. Planted clary and nemesia from England. Also lettuce, radish and carrot in bed along lower driveway. Planted second viburnum burkewoodie that Vinca gave me. Howard mowed.

Two men working today put in steps to lower area. Called David to tell me I was upset at his buying a $6,000 copier- says contract subject to 60 days approval.

Rainy all day high 48.
Miserable day but men finished the third terrace and steps by greenhouse.

Worked on news release to all 10 media to change date of Bob Whitman’s autograph party to May 27th. Then on Cemetery records – cleaning them up.

In at 4:30 for Dave haircut and to copy Marion Star and Carl Lehner’s Courthouse clipping. Took shop computer back. Nothing seems wrong with mine. May have used wrong program.

Gorgeous day.
Spring beauties and violets in the woods are spectacular. Trilliums blooming. Wrens back. Myrtle warblers.

Cooked all PM- mock chicken, scalloped corn, Perfection salad and cheesecake and home baked bread from frozen loaf. Mary sick with cold and didn’t come but Ken did. Mary and Carl Jordan, Bill and Erma Hutchman and Helen Romine all seemed to enjoy walk through garden and the dinner.

Cloudy, drizzle, High 56

To Historical Center after stopping at 6:33 Bordeaux. Chris Harris loading up to move out – no money to pay April rent plus $55 to May 5th. Margaret Cottrell helped catalog road bonds and encapsulate two for practice but Sue Bales came to get me to go see the mess Chris left. I got cat litter to put on oil he had drained on garage floor. Rusty Bales and friends came to unload their furniture into garage. Called Geneva Brewer to have her girls clean on Monday. Grocery shopped. Dave still in robe when I got home. Walked in woods at dusk- gorgeous.

Maxine Marshall called- says she told Pat Winn I hadn’t paid dues. Why didn’t she tell me? I told her it was only my respect for Midlams that would make me finish Cemetery records.

Threatening rain but mowed upper lawn. Men worked in terraces off and on between showers, starting on second terrace. Terry out and got them on right track on steps by greenhouse.

Letter from Dorothy Hildreth Dines enthusiastic about Hildreth genealogy. An order from Ensinger- Omaha, Nebraska no idea who she is.

Worked all day on Cemetery records to take to genealogy meeting but walked out without them. Woods absolutely gorgeous spring beauties look like snow. Daffodils gorgeous so large and cool weather keeps them blooming. Worked on Cemetery records.

Took car back to garage to get horn fixed that blows anytime. Car stalled again at Big Bear. To genealogy meeting at 7:00 and found them distributing surname index books. Maxine Marshall came over and said you won’t find your name in there because you didn’t pay your dues. The tone was gloating. I was crushed after spending hours getting non-profit status for them and doing Cemetery records about 200 hours.
